Hi again everyone,

Not sure if any of you remember but last time i was on here i had organised a GP visit in the hope of getting a more sympathetic doctor to put me forward for funding for wlsurgery..

Well the doc i went to was lovely and had no qualms about referring me and said at my weight (BMI 50) that i should more than fit the criteria..

However, its been 3 weeks now and i recieved a letter this morning to say that she was able to clarify the criteria with the health board and it would appear i dont fit the criteria for referral as the criteria set are BMI>45 with diabetes or BMI>50 with another serious medical condition.

I told this doc about my depression (heaven knows i was sobbing my heart out to her!), back & knee pain aswell as IBS and family history of heart attacks and other heart problems... is this the end of the road for me here?

What should i do next?? Do i call the health board?

At a loss as to what to do and am really, REALLY down about this :wave_cry:

when i was referred to the hospital hyper tension was on the pct criteria but now thats been taken off in bedfordshire but as i have diabetes too i still had my op my bmi at the time was just over 40

each pct criteria is different throughout the country bit strange though as they should all be singing from the same hymn sheet

i would be inclined to go back and say well if i dont meet the criteria could you refere me to a dietary specialist /endocrainologist for some help in managing my weight. they then may just refere you on for a bypass.
