hi everyone hope your all ok.
im panicking, know ive got time yet but ive not got anything organised. have very little money and im not sure if i need to start getting things ? help:sign0009:

all you need is nightys, hairbrush, toiletries, slippers & dressing gown and an out fit to come home in & magazines to read ect

What i will be doing is going through others the lists and making my own list and i 2 am short of money so every week i will be buying something else that i need so bit by bit i have it all ready and packed for when ever i get surgery xx

do i need food straight away after, and do i need a blender?
friend looking after tigger. bills or direct debit. pjs/nighties anywhere big and cheap? thanks xx

You will only need liquids for 1st two weeks inc yogharts and clear soups. You will need a blender but really only from week 3 but i found a hand one ok and you can pick them up pretty cheaply. I would'nt buy a lot of food i wasted a lot because i did'nt bank on how my tastebuds would be affected. Not sure of a cheap shop selling bigger clothes never had the luck to find one. Catalogues are good if you are happy to pay them up or i know peeps on here sell some of their bigger clothes on e bay maybe we could set up something i know i have jammies i bought for going into hospital wore them for the 1st two weeks ( not constantly lol) but now they are too big and still new looking. Don't worry too much you don't need as much as you think you do x

Couple of ideas (but the more experienced post-op-ers will be along soon)

Hand blenders are really useful but they don't have to be expensive. Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda etc do basic home stuff like kettles and toasters very cheaply. They definitely have hand blenders in their ranges too.

They don't look pretty (just basic white plastic) but they are cheap and they are quite up to the job. I have a hand mixer from Tesco that I bought for about a 4 quid because I thought I was only going to use it once and never again. I was wrong! It gets used a lot and it is still going strong.

Tesco do a cheap hand blender for £4.18 which I think is a bargain.

Simply Be do nighties and PJs cheaper than Evans etc. They do some in packs of 2 or 3 and they go up to a size 36/38 so big enough for everyone I think. They are also good for packs of knickers.

I must admit that I am not a big fan of Simply Be's quality but, hopefully, you won't be wearing these nighties for too long as you lose weight so if they don't last for years you won't care!

love

What size are you?Bon Marche go to 24 and Matalan are reasonably priced. You wont need much. Its only 3 days.Bet you have most stuff already.Toiletries, couple nighties, housecoat, mags, slippers loose change, phone, ipod.Fave low sugar squash, mouth spray, lip balm.I always take a small water spray too cos I get so hot,wet wipes and tissues.Pen if your like me and do crossword in paper.

As the other have said, cheap hand blenders from the value ranges will work fine.

Dont mess about spending money on making yourself food ready for after the op, I made loads and threw most of it to the dogs, your taste buds change so much after the op you wouldnt believe.

PJ's well I took 2 pairs in and used them on one day and they were uncomfy ! Trying to manouver yourself in bed with pj's on was a nightnare where the hospital gowns are vetilated at the rear so you can shufty around much better, ok they arent going to win no fashion catwalk but who cares ? If you go on your physio walk just make sure you have a dressing gown on. That will save you a few bob and its only a couple of days, I wouldnt pay £15 for a couple of days. :p

Anything to save money.
Dont buy mini shampoos n stuff take your half used ones in.

Just remember you wont feel like glamming yourself up so dont buy silly stuff,:D

Ear plugs for at night and antiseptic hand gel Asda do cheap PJs I went home in my Pjs and just put a cardi on

I have bought some jogging trousers in the sale from Sainsburys and some cheap mens T shirts so i can wear these in hospital and at home later. Cost me just over £10 for 2 trousers and 2 shirts also got some cheap fake crocs (can be washed and bleached) instead of slippers.

I did make a thread for the bargains we find...I'll find it later.

But there are some really nice nighties in Bon Marche...They were only about £7 or £8 quid each...I teamed them with some leggins £6 from Sainsbury's Sava Centre and they are so comfortable and look good too.

I also bought some PJ's in Bon Marche too but I got size 24-26 and the bottoms are way too big for me...the top is ok...(it might be my swollen tummy though)

I was quite surprised at this store....have some nice bits...tops are a little on the short side though.

ps; Don't forget your mouth wash and spray bottle for keeping your mouth fresh...and a good moisturiser.

Have fun

(((hugs)))

If your under mr ammori I was only in overnight:eek::eek: I went in 7.00am had my op @ 12.00noon and I was discharged @ 11.00am next morning. Matalan have a half price sale on at present so the 2nighties I bought are only £3.50 each now 5 x pairs of white cotton pants £2.50 and a hand blender from tesco £3.75 hows that for a budget!!!;);) Gail.x

Asda are great for clothes up to a 24. I got jogging bottoms (like i jog lol) from Matalan in a size 26 and it was a clearance store so i think i paid something silly like £2. Am going back for more as i could easily wear them all the time.

Bungle i'm like you i hate night clothes on and put up with them once a month... I dread being in hospital and having to wear night clothes... At home, even now its getting chillier, my bum spends most the night sticking out the covers.... I could just see Mr Khan's face on doing his rounds
