Weight Management Course - Salford Royal

loubyl00

I want to shrink!
Hi,
I had a letter weeks ago saying that I wont be considered for funding till I do a 6 months weight management course at Salford Royal. Does anyone know how long it takes (approx) to get the appointments and do I just wait for them to send for me.
I know im impatient but if I need to do something myself like go back to my GP I dont want to waste time.

Cheers me dears

Sorry Lou - can't help, but didn't want to read and run...

PS I thought the NICE guidelines were that if BMI is over 50 (with or without comorbidities) that WLS was the first line of treatment, and that the weight management and WL pills route didn't have to apply...

Im having my op there too and havnt had to do the weight management. Wonder if its a new thing? Sorry cant help X

My diabetic specialist pushed for my funding, I was refused the first time last year... but on the second attempt it went through.

I had tried oral medication (orlistat) which I thought counted as being actively involved in weight reduction attempts... for me it was without success. The orlistat would only work when you take it as far as I'm concerned, with dramatic side effects and then the weight would pile back on after leaving off.

My best word on this is to stick with your goal and keep going back...

Very best of luck and much love xxx

p.s. are any of you going to the meeting tomorrow night at Salford, the Mayo building? xxx

I'm definately going. Is it 7pm start and do you have the postcode for the building we need to go to... I'm struggling with directions... much love xxx

Fantastic and thanks Jacqui... be lovely to see you if you can get there... xxx

Do hope you can get there... are you many miles away... could I help and offer you a lift? xxx

Im not many miles away but Im a disabled wheelchair user and I need my hubby or son to help, thanks so much for the offer though :D x

Sue, Ive been twice before and I found it really good, but Im still nervous lol. Not very confident meeting new people, one I have though Im a looney :D

Best of luck Jacqui, we will keep in touch and if you don't get there... I'll make sure you don't miss anything. Much love xxx

Don't be nervous Sue, it's my first time and there are a few of us newbies... we'll be fine.
xxx

Thanks Bev, Sue dont be too nervous, theres always people there who have never been before. Its not like a clique and your the odd one out, honestly. The do a presentation, last time I went it was the dietician, or you can stay in the main area and talk to people. Its all very casual :D x
P.s. you can take hubby if you prefer I usually take the whole family lol.
