What is the pre op appointment

Hi

Just wondering if anyone can help.

Im pre op due to see the consultant this week to see if i have met my weight loss target at sunderland.

People have been talking about pre op appointments. Just wondering what this is. Is this the one im due to attend, or do you have another appointment after the endoscopy.

I was initially told i would have an app with dietician, nurse specialist ( which i have done) then consultant app (due this week), endoscopy, then if all is well i will get surgery date.

Is this right ir is there another pre op app somewere

Kako, I was wondering the same. my appointment is 3rd of October.

My pre op appointment was the final checks to see if I was fit for surgery.
I had a heart trace, blood pressure check, MRSA swabs, various bloods taken, lung function test and a Q+A session with a nurse practioner.
I was told that I'd be on a 12 week waiting list from then on but actually only waited 2 months.

Ahh thanks, ive had that done before for previous surgery, was known as pre assessment, will ask the consultant when i go about it

hi the pre opp you are going to now is to see the consultant is to see if you done the weight target. and he will tell you what kind od surgery you will be getting ake you if you have anything you want to ask him. after that you will get an app for an endoscopy if everythink ok you will be put on the waiting list there and then. your pre assessment will be around 2 weeks before the opp i have been on the list for just over 3 months now. and was told a 6month wait hope this helps x

Yes it does great thanks for that. Going to see consultant today ( panicking abit as thought i was tomorro, just looked at app this morning to find its today).

Hopefully will be accepted and get things in motion .

Put on the list for my endoscopy. One step closer

good i waited about 6 to 8 weeks for it i worried about it and when i did have it i was fine just got the spray so i could go straight home, hope everything will be ok then you will be on the list.

Thanks everyone .

Havent quite decided what im gonna do think i may go for a local, i have massive tonsills, so they will get in the way and cause some sort of pain lol. Dreading being intubated for the op with them, as they are so swollen and sore afterwards, when i had my gall bladder out my throat pain took the emphasis away from my tummy pain.
