I've taken up Nordic Walking as gym is a bit beyond me and walking is something I can do any day. My 'short' daily walk is 5km and I try to get in a couple of long 10-20 km walks per week too. Th poles we use help to engage most of the muscles and shift it from being just a walk into more of a workout by burning more calories. As I go into the second year, weight loss is becoming something I have to work for, but at seven stones lighter, I'm feeling no pain?

im still pre op but i swim 5 days a week for between 45 minutes and 2 hours as i cant gym it due to arthritis and weakness in my limbs. to start with i could only manage 10 minutes of very slow swimming before my legs stopped co operating, now my exercise tolerance is alot better and im hoping after surgery i can build it up even further

I'm 6 months post op and have just started c25k.Im still overweight so I'm finding it difficult but enjoying it at the same time.

Well Im 6 months out and I only really swim 2 to 3 times a week for about 45 mins. I also walk 3 to 5 miles once or twice a week. It doesn't sound much really when others are at the gym 5 days a week! I have a very active job and work 3 or 4 days a week 12 hour shifts, so that takes up a lot of energy. I may be 7 stone down, but I'm still not a gym bunny - wish I was, but it it is what it is. You have to be able to incorpoate exercise in to your life easily, and you have to enjoy it.

I'm currently walking for 30-60 minutes a day. Once I can swim again I can't wait to get back to the pool - pre-op I would swim around 2.5km, three or four times a week.
