RNY Gastric Bypass Which bike??

I'd like to start riding a bike. But I'm utterly confused about what kind of bike to get. Although I've lost 7st I am still 20st now so I worry that there isn't any suitable bike for someone my size.

My friend is selling her hybrid bike. The tires need pumping up because it hasn't been ridden in months and months but right now they feel really soft.

I'm going to a cycle shop tomorrow to get some advice. If anyone can advise me here I would be most grateful.

Initially I plan on cycling around our village only. I haven't been on a bike in 20 years.

A good start is one with round wheels lol Sorry I could resist.

I just have a basic run of the mill hybrid bike at this stage, but the more I get into it, the better the bike I will get.

LOL :)

I am mainly worried about the weight and the bike being able to carry me obviously without the tires going flat.

I agree with PG about the tyres. I was told to ensure that the tyres are fully inflated and not to let them go flat. I went to a specialist shop who were really good and said that weight is not the issue - it is about getting the right size frame and the tyres. I bought a hybrid and it has been great. I too had not ridden for a long time but am really getting into it. I am mostly riding over in my local park. I do not think I will feel confident about riding on the road but that is more because of the crazy car drivers rather than me!

Good luck and happy cycling.

I bought a bike from a neighbour for £20 yesterday. It's a mountain bike and the back tyre needs to be inflated a bit more but other than that it's in great condition. Just took it round the block and only wobbled once lol. Tomorrow I plan to do 30 mins on our local cycle track as long as the weather is ok.
Just make sure your tyres are inflated and also that your seat is at the right height, or your knees will pay.

Any modern day bike will take your weight. I started riding at 22 stone and the mountain bike wore out with the miles rather than the weight.

A hybrid should be fantastic.
