Hi Everyone

So excited, I rang the appointment line up again today and I have a Seminar appointment on 15th October at Sunderland. I feel like things are beginning now! So excited, relieved, scared, happy etc etc etc xx

Aww that's great I know its a long journey but really it is needed to get your head around what life will be like after your op. So many people have it done quickly and are just not mentally prepared fro what this journey entails and how your mind will cope, the mind is always playing catch up with our bodies. It is a tricky thing the only way to describe it is like a person with anorexia, we still see ourselves a lot larger than we really are the mind just can't let us see the real us it is strange but you will catch sight of yourself ib shop windows etc and it will hit you when you realise who is that ohhh its me wow I look great, our mirror doesn't always say that but shop windows are a spontaneous reaction so to speak. I often see a space and think I can't fit through there and then you go through expecting to have to tackle it sideways on and manage to get through square on its an a amazing journey but can be long and tiresome stick with it it will be worth it in the end. x

Thanks Chrisa, I appreciate the time to think process, there is an awful lot to take in isn't there? Just pleased to have a start. I have in my mind 18 months as time seems to differ greatly between different people and places. How are you doing? x

Hi Jacwat, I just wanted to say good luck with the seminar.
I am also going to Sunderland. They are stating 18 months from seminar to surgery at the moment (if everything goes well along the way) so your bang on with your time estimations. x

Thanks Sunshine
It's a long time isn't it? What did the seminar involve? Keen to get things moving but feeling very impatient at the minute! x

Thanks Willow, how you doing? x

I was at Sunderland the before and sfter team ate lovely they never judge you just listen and rAke their advise good luck deb x

Time flies. It really does. I went for my first appointment what feels like millions of years ago and I'm two weeks away from surgery.

I know it will feel like it drags. It's not. X

Hi Jacwat, the seminar was really helpful. When you first arrive yo get weighed and measured in a private room. There were about 20 people in the group I was in. There was a specialist nurse, a dietician and a surgeon who all took a turn in giving a presentation to cover all possible options for weight loss surgery. There was a chance for questions at the end and a booklet covering the info from the presentation to take home. You also get an 'opt in' form, if you feel you still want to go ahead with surgery you call them within two weeks and book your next appointment with the team. They will also give you a blood test request form for you to take to your gp to have an array of bloods done if you are going ahead with surgery. It was all quite relaxed and nothing at all to worry about. I hope it goes well for you x

Thanks Sunshine I too am going to a seminar at sunderland and wondered what happened at them x

No problem, I remember being nervous and excited for my seminar wondering what was going to happen. They are really friendly and informative. x

Thanks Sunshine, can't wait at least the process will feel like its started when I go to Seminar! Thanks again xx

Jac

Have you got your official confirmation letter off Sunderland?

I got mine today xx

Hi carol, not sure as I am currently on holiday! I hope so, just really want to get going with it now. Is it the same date you thought? X

Hiya Carole, got my letter through. Its on the 15th at 5 pm :):):)

I had my seminar a year ago come October. At the time when they talked about timescales I thought it would take forever but it seems to have passed really quickly. I'm now about to go for endoscopy so still a way to go but the wait is not that bad really, you get used to it :)

Good luck and I hope it doesn't take that long! I have my first appointment with surgery team on the 10th wondering if I'll have to go to this seminar first.

Anyway good lunk! I'm happy for you! !

Hi Pinkcere, is this your 1st appointment? There does not seem to be any pattern.
Good luck with the team! x
