I took sick leave. I only told the head of my section about my op and they have to keep it confidential. I sometimes have trouble with my line manager and his boss so just tell them that I've informed their manager of any details. My fit note said Minor Abdiminal Surgery as thats what a bypass...

My hospital gave me a sick note for 1 week from discharge. I got a further 2 weeks from my gp but I'm sure they would have allowed me more time had I requested it. And I'm doing a phased return to work initially for a couple of days.

I had an infection in one of my incisions. It cleared up really quickly with antibiotics and lots of dressing changes. I found it quite worrying but once the antibiotics kicked all was well as I'm sure it will be for you. Ax

I only met a dietician at the educational session and immediately after surgery. And I met the anaesthetist for the first time as I was walking into the theatre. I think every hospital does things differently.

Thank you. I've got one which isn't looking to good but all the rest look ok. So have removed all but have put a fresh dressing on the one that's icky. I'll have a nurse check it over this evening.
