Had a bit of a funny week with a bit more carb based junk creeping in. Yesterday I had two packets of hula hoops which worried me a bit as being pre-op behaviour. I do not want to go down that route again so today I've been really conscious of going to get protein when I'm hungry. I also placed a big meat order as I got a special offer code for an online butchers so I'm determined to clear out the freezer of protein based foods before it comes next week.

Anyone
I'm a week out if sleeve surgery really struggling to get my fluids down drank one glass of nas squash snd had 2 petit filous today just attempted a soup had about 5 tsp and every single one hurts is this normal ?

Don't panic . Maybe your drinking it to quickly I really did struggle , I'm still struggling my specialist and nurse said for me to drink about 1 and half litres cos I just couldn't drink so much and get any soup etc in me . And it's the same now I find it easier now . One way I did it was have a 500 ml bottle of water with some sf squash which I hate with me in the car etc. Plus only make 200 ml cups of tea or coffee . Make sure you leave half an hr after a drink so your not to full . So I know at the end of the day I've had an extra 500ml in the day just by having sips through the day . Plus don't forget your soup is part of your fluid intake and so are your yogurts , milk etc. I hope some of this helps you xx

Oh and the soup is hurting you because your drinking it too quickly or your gulping it . Just take your time ,you might have some wind . X

Thank you
I'm definitely not drinking too fast, I sip, I'm too scared to gulp, it hurts too much, have had half a cup a soup today, 500 ml water throughout day 1/2 jelly and 2 tsp soup tonight
Now on toilet !!! X

Oh dear adrienne , what sort if soup are you having ? I could only drink about 2 tablespoons of soup in one go it also depend on what soup your having . What I do is when I get up I make myself a 200 ml cup of tea ,I take my time drinking it then do some jobs then when I was on liquids I made a smoothie with soya milk ( I'm intolerant to dairy but do cheat a bit ) I put some melon juice from a fresh melon that I've juiced and half a banana and raspberries about 5 , I pour in 200 ml milk then fruit and 2 teaspoon of marvel that's got all your proteins in . You can't taste it . Blitz this up till smooth then strain it and it will make about 400 ml pour into 2 glasses put one in the fridge till later . Drink it through a straw but very slowly really refreshing . This helped me get through fluids my specialist told me to do this and dietician as I wasn't get through enough protein etc. As for the toilet problem you will be getting rid of a lot of anaesthetic . But I would speak to your nurse or the ward and just ask them and they'll help you . Don't be scared of doing that as that's what they're there for to help you . People phone them all the time . I did at the beginning . I still do if I'm not sure about something . I start on normal foods tomoz :) . X
