Hi, I am new and about to start my journey soon with my first group seminar at Sunderland Royal Hospital. Can anyone help me by telling me what to expect on the first night?

Hi Jeppo
Welcome to the site. I am 2 weeks post op from Sunderland. I had my seminar last October and I really enjoyed it. You meet the dietician first who weighs you and this is then your base weight. You then get a talk from the Bariatric Specialist nurses and a Consultant just outlining the process really. It is an opportunity to meet other people who are embarking on the same route.
Good luck!
Jackie

Hello and welcome jeppo321!

Hi there and welcome!!

I had my bypass at Sunderland last November and all good, very almost at my target already :)

Can't really add any more than Jackie already said about the seminar, that pretty much sums it up.

Good luck on your journey :)

Hello and welcome! Hope the first seminar goes great. Can't offer any expertise as I'm at about the same stage but will enjoy hearing how you get on :)

Thanks for making me welcome. I have mixed feelings, excited and nervous but my appointment is August and ready for the challenge.

Hope it goes well for you. Wishing you all the best on your weight loss journey and looking forward to hearing your story :) xx

Is there anything I need to take with me to my first seminar? Other than myself of course :)

HI. I had my meeting with Bariatric Nurse and Dietician end of May at Sunderland was given 4lb to lose before next appt end of August time. (Started to diet after seminar in March). Told sleep test needed doing before then as i snore. Told the sleep test wait is about 8 weeks and this is the longest wait during the whole process, unless u don't lose the weight target they give you, which slows the process down.

Hi, no nothing at all. Just go in with a open mind and absorb as much as you can.

I didn't know there was a possible sleep test to be done. Does this vary from hospital to hospital.

I think it's because i snore and they want to check for sleep apnoea. It may all be down to my allergic rhinitis.
