Hiya, I'm Sharon, 54 and living in North Devon. In Jan 2014 I was 21 stones and 8lb. Today I'm 12 stones 11 and have 1stone 11 to reach my target of 11 stones (which is top end of the "normal" wright for my height of 5'7"). I've done this using the 5:2 intermittent fasting and calorie counting.
I plan to have surgery to reduce and lift my boobs and to deal with the saggy skin and fat pooch on my lower belly. My questions are:
1) should I wait to have these done when I've reached my target weight or do so whisky I'm still losing weight? I want my boobs done first as they depress me the most. I'm going to have to self fund as the Nhs won't pay :((
2) how do you go about finding a good surgeon? Googling just comes up with loads of organizations and people after my hard earned £'s but I've no idea if they are reputable and good or not?
3) has anyone had these surgeries who can offer me personal experiences and guidance?
Thanks muchly
X

If your planning to have plastics on the NHS, they have a criteria you must meet before referral. You can check what the criteria is for your area on the NICE website, but I think they are national now. Your BMI must be 24.9 or below and your weight has to be stable for a year. I think there are a few more things, but I'm not sure. I hope this helps a little :)

You need to be a stable weight for at least six to nine months before even a private surgeon should consider you. I was referred by my bariatric specialist to a surgeon who specialises in breast reconstruction, rather than to a cosmetic person. I was self-funded and could not be happier with the experience and result. I have made a decision that I can live with my other loose skin as it really is not THAT bad but would like a bit of work on my face ... but not a priority right now. xx

no advise or help (sorry) but wanted to congratulate that amazing weight loss all by yourself well done sweetness, i hope the next chapter is just as successful x x x x

Don't have plastics to you have finished losing weight and know you are maintaining it for at least 6 months.

I took one of the recommendations from my surgeon, he gave me a couple. I interviewed 5 surgeons in total.

Where do you live and his far you can travel will play a part in your decision. Just make sure you get proper aftercare and from reading lots of articles personally I would choose UK based.
