BANDERS UNITE ! Get to know each other chatter !

Takes after me!
Apparently, my surgeon doesn't stitch the ports down anymore. He uses gause!?! (so my nurse said). So my port is able to move around and face the wrong way. I will see how next time goes and if it's no better then I will see about having stitched down.
It's a good job we have to sit down with a cuppa after a fill because that's exactly what I needed to do!

Hi

The gauze is probably a kind of mesh, they use it to keep hernias from popping out and i imagine the surgeon feels it's less invasive than stitches and therefore less likely to get infected and cause problems, but it seems it brings it's own set of problems for you :(

I hope that over time your body (scar tissue) will lock it down so you don't need to go back for stitches :)

OUCH!!! Back from my fill. My awkward port is a bit of a nightmare.
It actually hurt this time. At one point I looked down at my stomach and there was a pool of blood there!
It's not the nurses fault, she does her best. At least she finally managed it. Good job too because I was at the point where I was going to ask her to leave it as it was too painful.
Lets hope that all that for 1 ml is worth it. I now have 6.4mls in my band.

Aaw Karen - Sorry your having problems with your port! Hope it settles down really soon.

Hope it also gives you the restriction you need and helps with your food amounts. :)
Good luck with it pet x

Tranquil - did you make it out on your bike today?
Been thinking about getting a new bike myself....only problem is, I`m so little that ladies bikes are too large for me ....and I don`t want to look daft riding a kiddies bike!

Wished they made proper ladies bikes that fit us little ones under 5ft ..... I don`t feel safe on regular bikes.
I did buy a brand new electric bike about 5 years ago...but same problem. My feet did`nt quite reach and I took a nasty tumble on some gravel I was cut to pieces on my hands, knees and even my head; and I was so shook up I never got on it again. Still got it in the garage, gathering dust!

Hope everyone is keeping well and have a good evening....well, whatever is left of it!

Love Kat x

Ouch Miss H - feel for you. Mine always seems to be problematic too. I had my last fill under x ray and even the radiologist had trouble getting the needle in and he had the benefit of a screen to guide him! I always end up bleeding. I hope this fill helps you.

Hi Kat. Lovely to see you. I did indeed get out on the bike this morning. I surprised myself because I am not a morning person. I managed to do two laps without stopping which is two miles. My bottom is still sore after Sunday even though I have a gel saddle. I wonder if they do those padded shorts in big sizes? May have to get a man's pair if not. Definitely not as much padding in that area as there used to be:D.

My frame is a small frame as I wanted to be able to touch the ground too. I can understand your fear Kat, especially after you experienced a nasty fall. I was tempted to go and ride again tonight but decided against it as I have started to get that pain in my side again. I really do not know what it is. It seemed to disappear not long after my fill but has come back again in the last few days.

Kat they seem to do some smaller frame bikes now so it may be worth going to a specialist bike shop and trying some out.

Hope everyone enjoys what is left of the evening.

ooh Miss H not nice, I hope it settles soon xxx

Kat do it, it's great fun. TB had a good experience going into her bike shop and getting proper help and advice. It won't hurt to speak to someone and then decide, I'm sure you'd be amazed at the choice there is out there now xxx

TB I had a special gel seat that you put on top of your saddle, it made my lady bits more sore than without it so I leave it off now.
Day 3 of cycling for me tomorrow, not sure what aches most today my thighs, my back or my unmentionables!!!!

So tired now so am going to visit the land of zzzzzzzz's

Night all xx

mistake

Iam going swimming tomorrow. "so what!" some might say. But for me it is a big deal. I haven't donned a swimsuit in years.
I used to swim regularly and enjoyed it alot but then in my mind I got too fat to be seen in a swimsuit. When wearing a cozzie, you might as well be naked!
So tomorrow i'm taking my son (not my local pool in case anyone I know see's me!!). He is really excited about it.
I tried on my swimsuit (size 22) and found it was too big, so I've just had to wizz up to matalan and get another. (size 18)!
BTW I have a big purple bruise on my tummy today from yesterdays trauma!
I'm looking forward to weighing tomorrow as I've been very good.

Well done on the new cossie Miss H that must feel great!! Enjoy your swim too xx

I've managed 43 of my 50 mile cycling target this week :) two more days to do it in, think I can manage that, and I have officially cycled three days in a row :D

Morning all. It is a beautiful sunny day here. I am going to get my hair done today - it usually takes 4 hours. I then have stuff to do for work which is going to take the rest of the day. I will be getting out into the park later to try and do a couple of circuits on the bike.

Have a lovely day all.

Beautiful morning up here in Scotland (nr Edinburgh anyway!).
I'm gonna do nothing today in preparation for a 6 day week at work next week :(
I've just had my coffee, boiled egg and 1 slice of wholemeal toast with scraping of butter and feel surprisingly full. Proof that I always ate too much before! Hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday xx

ooo boiled eggs and soldiers....that's my tea sorted!

Evening all. Just been out on my bike. Managed just over a mile but spent the time dodging so many people I gave up trying to do another lap. I nearly came off a few times - it has left my nerves shredded. I am undeterred though. Going to get up early and go again. Might have to get one of those gel covers for the seat as I am feeling it on my bootie even with a gel saddle:D.

I cycled 50 miles in one week :)
I was going to give up at 43 as felt rubbish this morning but had a spare hour this afternoon so got peddling and did the last 7 miles I needed!!!!!!!!
Am beat now and no I won't be doing it again next week.
I need a rest :) xxxx
