Blues Banding....

Thanks flutterby, I did think of milk drinks....

Im also worried...but as my partner said, the nurse did say the first few days after a fill, its swollen....so perhaps thats why i cant eat much?

Sorry not read it all so when was your fill? Just that you should go back to few days liquid/mushy etc before solids? Don't overdo it as it will just continue to aggravate it. Liquids for a few days will help it settle

I know how you feel I only lost 1/2 last week but so far since tuesday I have lost 4 lbs so maybe you have a bigger loss next week. Just think of 2 packets of butter and thats what you have lost. well done Wendy

Yep im back to liquidy stuffs....Weetabix for dinner lol as i cant be doing soup in this weather!

Just tried a tin of spaghetti in tomato sauce in a mashed jacket potato...Hurt like hell, even though I chewed and took it slowly....So after 3 mouthfuls I stopped! (too much pain)

So I went and got a bowl of salad leaves with no fat dressing....all of 30 calories worth, and ate that...as it goes down easily.

I think potatoes are out...unless mashed very lightly on a cottage pie etc....
Scrambled eggs are also out. Havent tried any other type of eggs yet.
Bread is most definitely OUT.

Each day im learning what I cant eat, and its effecting my depression a bit...as Im finding less and less of a comfort in eating now...it actually is something I dread now.

Blue, they may not be out forever, just perhaps till your body and band adjust. It's exciting really discovering our new selves ... Don't let it get you down :) smile

poor you hope it all gets better for you im having the same thing with this heat, eating and feeling stuffed after a few mouthfuls it's driving me crazy and knowing im not gettting the right amount of protein in and other things and getting pain under my ribs its getting unbearable, i would normally drink a fizzy drink and burp but i know that will not work someone out there should have an idea how to get rid of it so if you do give us a clue :)

They told me not to eat bread or rice for 3 months after as our bodies can't digest it yet. Give it a go in a month or two :)

Ok so weigh day today for me....and ive lost 37lbs....woop woop!

4 more pounds and ive done 3 stone....:)

I wont lie, its getting harder, as the band is tight - even at 3.5mls in a 10mls band.

Im finding it hard to eat many things...the constant pain in my chest makes me not want to try new foods but to stick to kids cottage pies or salad leaves lol....

Im now facing my first festival....im worried about eating...but have got as many things i can to cook....thats in a tin or dried food, to take camping with us for the 5 days....

I will be drinking alcohol....(say what you want, I dont care for negative comments)....
but ive chosen wisely....rum and sugar free fruit juice drinks - as to lower the calorie intake. I wont be getting steaming drunk....but i will enjoy the festival to a tipsy level.

Hi hun - just a thought but do you take something for reducing the acid after eating? it could be excess acid causing you the 'pain' if not.

I worry about eating too in company (even 3 years out) and tend to stick to easy things. One of my brothers is terrible for putting me under pressure whilst eating

Enjoy the festival, is it download btw - if so I'm soooooooooooooooooooo jealous ;) xxx

Hi I am so glad I am not alone with the struggle to find out what I can eat. I am having problems with almost all protein, scrambled egg, not even going to try bread even got fish stuck but I think I may have tried to eat too quickly. I had really tight and uncomfortable feeling in my chest last night and have hardly eaten today. I am seeing nurse for first fill tomorrow so hope I feel better. Whew this is taking some getting used to. I REALLY need to change my relationship with food. Blue have a fab time at the festival and enjoy those drinks luck you. Well done on your weight loss. Xxxx

Yep im off to Download tomorrow....cant wait!

I dont think its acid...as when I eat something that hurts...ie: the fluffyness of a jacket potato....I chew it till its tiny then as it hits the band, its like its stuck, or a punch in my chest...and like i cant breathe....i wait, and it slowly goes through....

Sometimes I have to drink a drink to help it, which I shouldnt, but the pain is so bad...

If its this painful, maybe a teeny de-fill, even 0.25 mils may make all the difference? Have fun. I woul luuuurrrrrv to go to a festival:cool:

Be careful as the drink could just sit on top making it worse if blocked. Try smaller bites and rest between mouthfuls to allow food to go through....a meal is a good half hours job if done correctly! Sounds like when I've eaten too quickly from what you're saying.....I find stretching my body up and holding my breath can help

Hey Kay

Good luck with the first fill....although it sounds like you must have some fill in your band already if your having so much trouble...ask when you go to the hospital....

Some things do change - I ate a moussaka today....(amazed at a whole meal from asda being 341 calories)....It was well filliing and delicious...and had potato in it, and no problem at all...but I think its cos its in some kind of sauce thats helped it.

My specialist nurse told me to go more to the drier foods, but ffs, it hurts....Im in the safe realm of cottage pies lol....and such things, as I can eat them, enjoy them and they dont hurt!....

They say - no pain, no gain....Well I didnt expect this ride to be easy...the operation recovery was more than what I expected, but good aftercare and meds helped. And now its like a routine to eat...not out of a mmmm appetite, but because my belly grumbles, I know its one of the 3 meals im allowed in a day...and I have only a few foods that dont hurt....So im sticking to it for the time being...

Im coping...and bearing up...My next fill is due June 19th....so im just gonna cope till then...saves on more travelling.

I am learning from it Jo....I do the breathing and standing thing, and it sometimes helps...Your right.

I over chew -to tiny amounts- believe me...and I take ages to eat a meal....its more to do with my posture I think as when im slightly hunched it hurts more....

Just certain foods arnt working for me....

BUT...my neighbour is 3yrs post op -Bander...and she cant eat chicken, and yet i have no problems with it.

Well Download Festival has been and gone....I let my hair down and partied....I kept to the food I took with me, but of course I had a few alcoholic drinks - White Rum with no added sugar fruit juices....I did notice I get tipsy faster, So I didnt drink too much!

So Im back on the calorie counting and Wii fit every day now...Doing well, and its become a routine. Im only a few pounds away from losing 3 stone....Once I hit that, Im gonna smile for ages!
