Blues Banding....

Hi Lisa....good luck on your op :)

This is where the willpower needs to kick in ... Stick to making the better food choices, and it will work for you. Most of us banders have been where you are now ... And you can get through it ... Try to concentrate on eating band friendly, dense protein foods first, followed by your veg/fruit and then carbs - don't let it get you down cos that's when the treats and self-sabotage can start creeping in x

Thanks flutterby - Think I needed those words of wisdom from a bander x

Im sticking to low fat items, decent foods - that have been listed in my booklet....i went out to dinner 2 times this week - as it was bank holiday, and just overate....Harvester salad...new potatoes.....tut tut....and the other time, i was pretty good, as I had a chicken wrap with just lettuce in, no mayo or anything, just grilled chicken, which I cut up even more -I think I chose wisely there....but I ate the whole thing!

It feels like I havent had surgery now...unless I eat something that no matter if ive chewed it, it hurts to go down...ie: found this with uncooked peppers, curly kale, and leeks so far...

heh, I go out three or four times a week to eat, and I have still done ok
I make this band malarky fit in with my life. You have got to do, otherwise you can end up making quick fix choices rather than sustainable tweaks to your lifestyle. its all aboutfinding the right balance that works for you. I don't do guilt or think I have cheated / eaten the wrong thing then hang my head in shame ... I just think tp myself that I could possibly made a better/healthier choice instead ... Its all about perception :)

Trying to keep my calories low as this week I only lost 1lb....

My fibromyalgia has flared badly, so less movement...and more sleep....

Been eating larger meals too....so been trying smaller plates etc....

Cant wait till my first fill now....Hope it gives me the restriction I need!

Yep, I will explain that Im not losing or gaining weight now...its almost my weigh in day, and I just know im stuck at 250lbs.....my appetite is there, I can eat more, and it feels like ive not even had surgery etc....

So I will ask for 5ml, see what they say....as Im dreading putting weight back on :(

I had 5ml followed by 2ml...heavy handed approach but got me cracking on with it

See mine will only do 1 ml at a time... so be prepared for them to say no to 5 ml

Same here, 1mil max at a time for me...after my first fill which was done under X-ray at a different hospital to my providers (and that was 7mils!)

So I had my weigh in day today...and Ive lost 1lb :(.....

I cant be upset as its off and not still on...and ive not put on....But its been 3 weigh ins now that ive only lost a pound....

My first fill is next week - so hopefully that will help the weight loss somewhat.

Keep going, as the song says "things can only get better, can only get better as ............................(oops cant remember the rest), good luck Xx

Blue don't get disheartened - your (and my) weight loss had to plateau at some point. A pound of weight is quite a lot! Well done!

Better off than on! Just carry on plugging on. Even a pound a week would be over 4 stones off in a year. Nothing to be sniffed at ...

I know how you feel, trying so hard not to put on. I have lost 31 lb and it has stuck for weeks. I had a fill last week to 4.5 in a 10cc band and it has made all of no difference apart from a few stuck episodes. Hope I get another decent fill on my 2nd. Good luck with the weightloss.

just had my first fill.

first needle punctured missed the port and hurt a tad. on second puncture it went in. Then i was Sat up with the needle in me still and given a glass of water to drink. after every sip more saline was injected in me.

They found 1ml in the band already. so the specialist nurse put an extra 2.5ml in so i have 3.5ml total in my small 10ml band.

my next fill is 19th June.

on sloppy diet for 24hrs. soup in this weather lol!

Glad you're all done and that is not long till your second fill! Hopefully the weight loss will pick up again for you now. Have you got the rest of the day off to enjoy this weather? I'm not far from you and can't believe how warm it is! Like you say shame about having to eat soup in it but it will be worth it :D x

Well I feel pleased that my specialist nurse said im doing well with the weight loss....Ive done 31lbs since I started the pre op diet, then had surgery until now....so thats 7 weeks ago today I had the pre op diet and 5 weeks ago today that I had surgery.

Ive just eaten my first soup, I can feel some restriction but not like it was when i first came home from the hospital.....

Im getting pee'd off with this bad belly thing....back to the toilet I go...

Immodium stops it for a while, but then as soon as I go to the loo, its back....Im giving it till tomorrow and then Im gonna go to the emergency GP.

Belly is a bit better....

Wow I can really feel the difference with the fill...Not sure if its swelling or what not.

So far I tried some toasted bread - hurt like hell!
Tomato skins are a no go, as are potato skins.....coleslaw is another no go!

Im gonna have to do a list of what I can eat soon lol....Ive barely scraped 600 calories in me...and im not hungry at all...

Which is good, but Im sure that you can get ill from not eating enough calories...hmmm

Blue, what about having some milky drinks to up the nutritional /calories for the short term. Low calories may be good for a few days as its great to see the weight dropping off but longer term, personally, I think 600 is too low. As you lose weight and the band settles down your appetite will increase again anyway though :)
