It can cause gases to build up in your stomach and also possibly block the stoma if you swallow it.
I have chewed it but it's probably better to switch to sugar free sweets or mints if you must have something
Imagine being run to a+e with it stuck in your tum!I know we are adults and the chances are small but its not worth it,plus you gulp air when you chew.
I do chew gum occasionally.
I have read that not only does it cause excess gasses but the chewing actually stimulates somthing in the body which makes you feel hungry faster.
Plus if you accidently swollow it, i would dread to think what would happen.
I tend to carry polo's with me and if i ever run out then i get the gum from my bag. Im a smoker and spend most of my time in work talking loud on the factory floor so i need mints at hand OR my fesh breath spray.
Mints do cause me to bloat up aswell
I used to chew gum all the time pre op and havent touched it since because I know from before that it made me hungrier much quicker and thats something I could do without now. xx
