expected weight loss

Hi fizzy there is no actual expected weight loss, every person is different and we all lose weights at different speeds.
The bigger the person is usually the faster they lose weight, but it also can do with their lifestyle, age or if they are on medication all of those can make a difference to how fast u lose weight.
I think at the end of ur journey it usually levels itself out to about a stone a month, but some weeks u will lose more and other weeks less or stall.
I know it is hard to not compare out losses with others but in doing that i feel it really messes up my head and sets me up for a fall, i know that from experience.
Sorry i could not give u a specific answer, take care xx

Hi Fizzy

It depends on your start weight ect. Your stats & mine are not a million miles away from one another. I'm 5'3" start weight was 243lbs (17st 5lbs) in real money.

I lost 10lbs on the pre-op diet and on the day of my op I weighed 233lbs (16st 9lbs).

Week 1 (08/02/10) 223 lbs -10 lbs
Week 2 (15/02/10) 218 lbs - 5 lbs
Week 3 (22/02/10) 216 lbs - 2 lbs
Week 4 (01/03/10) 213 lbs - 3 lbs
Week 5 (08/03/10) 209 lbs - 4 lbs
Week 6 (15/03/10) 207 lbs - 2 lbs
Week 7 (22/03/10) 205 lbs - 2 lbs
Week 8 (29/03/10) 202 lbs - 3 lbs
Week 9 (05/04/10) 199 lbs - 3 lbs
Week 10 (12/04/10) 197 lbs -2lbs
Week 11 (19/04/10) 195 lbs -2lbs
Week 12 (26/04/10) 193 lbs -2lbs
Week 13 (03/05/10) 191 lbs -2lbs
Week 14 (10/05/10) 187 lbs -4lbs
Week 15 (17/05/10) 184 lbs -3lbs
Week 16 (24/05/10) 183 lbs -1lb
Week 17 (31/05/10) 180 lbs -3lbs
Week 18 (07/06/10) 180 lbs -0lbs
Week 19 (14/06/10) 177 lbs -3lbs

That's everything I've lost from the start, each week. I initially was very dissapointed and felt like it should be dropping off, but I finally realised that in 4.5 months I've lost 4.5 stones and I couldn't be happier. I'm now 2st 9lbs from goal and am over the moon.

We all loose weight at different rates but my dietican has always stated that they only ever expect me to loose 1lb a week and anything above that is a bonus. Also on the plus side, the slower you loose, the greater chance your skin has got to strink with you!

I too lead a sedentary life as I have a disability that makes exercising difficult. But I keep up with the house work, shopping etc. Anywhere I can fit some sort of exercise in!

You really shouldn't compare yourself with others and I know that's difficult to do, because I did when I first had my op. Especially reading posts from the fellas, 4st gone is 2 months! I was mortified with my 2 or 3lbs loss.

The weight will come off, we didn't get this big over night and we won't get smaller in the same time. All good things come to those that wait. x

Sorry Fizzy I just worked out, because I didn't notice before. Your loosing on average just over 4.5lbs a week, that's an amazing loss and you really shouldn't be dissapointed with it. x;)

I know my stats look like a 4.5 lb weight loss a week but it isn't really. I lost near on 12lbs on the pre op milk diet, so in the 8 weeks post op I suppose it is 3lbs. I think where I am goiong wrong is getting on the scales to often and not seeiong them move. I really must try and only get on once a week but it is so hard. I just want to see that dial drop everyday and of course it doesn't.

Many thanks for everyones support. I would go mad without it!

Ditto what Mixxy said. 3lbs a week isn't to be sniffed at. I'm sure when you see your team they will be extremely happy with your loss.

Chin up, your doing great x

my surgeon said about 10lb a month so 2-3lb is about right. im just obsessed with the scales. im on them morning and night sometimes at lunchtime too.

I'm an obsessive weigher too!

The scales really are the devil, we should all bin them but I think I'd pull my hair out (as well as it falling out on it's own) if I had to wait to be weighed by the dietician!
