Hi everyone, had a gastric sleeve op just over 3 weeks ago but am experincing pains just under the lower incision and finding it difficult to bend over on my left hand side.Could not get hospital yesterday due to weather.Has anyone else experinced these symptons. Thankyou

Hi Jasbtn. Sorry I can't help you specifically as I had a bypass rather than sleeve. But I was very sore and unable to bend for quite a long time post-op. Is this new pain?

Hi Grace, thnx for your reply yes the pains started last week i was absolutley fine for a couple of weeks, not sure wether i have strained it or something.

You may have done. Did you have open surgery or keyhole? How bad is the pain?

Hi Jayson - sorry to hear you're having some pain :-(( I would ring the hospital if I were you... Take care and let us know how you get on please xx

Hi Grace ,had keyhole surgery, just seems strange i was as gold for a couple of weeks with plenty of energy now really struggling.have to try and gey another appointment next week.

I think it might be best to get an appointment too....see how you go on overnight but if it gets any worse you should maybe have a trip to A&E .... its not worth taking a risk but chances are it wont be anything to worry about :D Hope you feel better soon XX

Definitely you need to get this checked out. I hope its all ok. Please let us know.

Just a word of caution. If you got to A&E, make sure they don't do anything they shouldn't with a sleeve. I don't know what the rules are, but with a bypass we shouldn't have naso-gastric tubes put in. It's probably best to ring the Bariatric ward at you hospital for some advice.
Because the Casualty staff aren't specialists, they sometimes go ahead and do stuff they shouldn't.
When I had an emergency admission, the general surgeon insisted I had a Naso-gastric tube put in. It could have cause a lot of damage. My bariatric surgeon was very unhappy when he found out.

Hi Dani, thanks for your message. I was actually due to have the bypass op,but they changed there mind due to safety reasons at last minute.I was at first a little bit dissapointed but after reading up about the sleeve op and a bit of research im very pleased with it.I was a little bit uncomfertable after the op for about 24 hrs but then it was more or less plain sailing. I have defintly had a lot more energy since the op and feeling good in myself.Like yourself i too have struggled with my weight all my life but the op has most certintly lit the light at the end of the tunnel.lol. My diet has consisted of a bowl of ready break for breakfast a low calorie smoothie for lunch and a cup a soup for dinner which more than suffices and it does me fine.I will be going on to solids in the next few weeks but just got to remember to have small portions and chew the food as much as possible. As for my infection cannot pinpoint it to anything but i may well of pulled a stitch whilst in hospital. I hope this has been beneficial to you and i wish you the best of luck when you have your op done and a speedy recovery if i you need to know anything else give us a shout. Kind regards Jason.

Thank-you Jason that's really helpful. It's mad because I eat such a lot at the mo a.
and I keep thinking how will my brain cope with not been able 2 do this any more. Can you still have sugar I have 2 much in my tea and drink about ten cups a day. All the best. Look forward 2 reading your progress.

Hi Dani, i have a extremly sweet tooth, but have have managed to go on to canderel sweetner it tastes a lot better than the usual sacharine. You will find after a couple weeks of your op your brain is beginning to get used to smaller portions,i find a bowl of ready brek really sorts me out and keeps me going for a good few hours.

Thanks 4 your reply . I sat down 2 a full english this morning and thought how will I feel when mt
My family r eating this wonderful food and I can't. I feel like its consuming my every thought. I am actually eating more. Is that terrible
