haemorrhoids - advice please!

sorry folks for this delicate topic, but any tips on how to deal with them would be much appreciated as I've not really been a sufferer before

I did see the nurse at my GP surgery a couple of days ago who gave me a prescription for Proctosedyl ointment and have been trying icepacks but have no relief yet.

how long would it usually take to see an improvement with these things?

cheers my dears :massmoon:

Hiya Red - have they not referred you for surgery? Have you had them packed? You need to make sure you keep plenty of fibre in your diet as straining even slightly, worsens them.

I found relief to be almost immeadiate. Make sure you don't have to strain at all, drink gallons and gallons of water I think would be the best advice. Posh toilet paper, none of that crispy character building stuff for your delicate nethers.
Hope it's all gone very very soon

Hi tpt...I've not really suffered with them much before now only slightly when pregnant many years ago.

I take linseeds almost daily to keep things ticking along, so not really discussed surgery or packing (daren't even think what's involved there )

I guessed that someone on here may have tried & tested tactics for dealing with the bl**dy things as they hurt like hell

I had to deal with them on a daily basis when I was a bowel nurse! Make sure your stools are very soft, keep your fluids up and never sit on the loo to go until it gets to the point where you absolutely have to. Piles can 'come and go' depending on how severe they are... piles are commonly induced in labour / pregnancy and may never re-appear, and the bout you have now may well go and not appear again for years. Some folk prefer to use the toilet wipes like nappy wipes too - just make sure they are not too perfumed!

iv had them recently as i had a bad bout of constipation, i never sit on loo for more than 5 mins i put tea tree oil in my bath as it can be very soothing , lashings of creme on after but this a bit gross sorry but i have one that kinda pops out and if i dont pop it carefully back in hurts like a bugger and babywipes better than bog roll!! hope they get better soon

Hi Serenity...yes I can pop mine back in but they pop out again just as quick....jeez they don't half nip :sign0137:

I no how you feel I have piles at the moment and a fisher(spelt wrong) I am constipated again and nearly passed out on one day this week as I sat on the loo for 45mins and ended up massaging it out.

Hi girls, if you are straining, that will cause damage. Pop along to your GP for some help and good luck with getting this solved.
:kissass:

Hey ho the joys we lot have, tpt gand the others have given you lot of good advice. I am a sufferer too, but put into practice most of the things you have been told about, and sometimes they stay in for a while and others not, but pushing isnt a good thing although you cant always help that, however hope you get some relief soon.
I used to use Anusol which I found relieved dont know if they still do it.

Jay xx

I have some stuff of doctor that you squeeze up your bottom its called aunal something lol its a cream It aint cleared the piles up either Will have to go back and have a word

Seeing as creams for haemorrhoids are supposed to be good for under-eye bags and circles, perhaps you could also try Touche Eclat on you haemorrhoids.

Sorry - I know - it's not funny!!!

OMG Teen, that's awful and must be horrendously painful with a fissure

I found the Anusol suppositories very good as they gently push things back in place and were soothing.Thumbs up for perfume free wipes and good old Sudacrem around the surrounding area.Cor blimey the things we talk to strangers about!!I wont discuss some of this stuff with my oh!!!

Know how it feels hun and it aint good! Like everyone has said, plenty of fibre, plenty of water, fibogel is good for keeping things soft. Keep off your feet and legs raised as much as possible, no long periods sitting or standing. And.... keep popping them back in because they can become thrombosed if they are left out and from experience there isn't pain like it!

xx

thanks B & B...I know what you mean, I felt embarrassed asking the nurse the other day, but figured you Mini folks would have some good tips for coping with them :)

My dear OH has just told his brother 'she's having big problems with her chalfonts!!!'

oh the shame

Hi Red

Are you in a lot of pain?

Do keep popping them back...it is the best place for them.

They can become herniated, thrombosed and strangulated too.

I know it is not nice, but get the doctor to have a look and get a referral for surgery...only way to get rid of them if you have had them long term.

There is a gel (prescription only) that you can get for severe pain but this does lower your blood pressure very quickly but it does numb...I check the name for you later.

Good luck

(((hugs)))
