haemorrhoids - advice please!

Hi Red

Are you in a lot of pain?

Do keep popping them back...it is the best place for them.

They can become herniated, thrombosed and strangulated too.

I know it is not nice, but get the doctor to have a look and get a referral for surgery...only way to get rid of them if you have had them long term.

There is a gel (prescription only) that you can get for severe pain but this does lower your blood pressure very quickly but it does numb...I check the name for you later.

Good luck

(((hugs)))

Hi Snow

I got a prescription for some Proctosedyl which is supposed to numb the blighters, but 3 days down the line it's no better and the ointment can only be used for 7 days...I keep popping them back in (pain permitting) but they pop straight back out...they're not like I've had before, they're very firm to the touch but thankfully not bleeding...they hurt so much I've not been able to go to work today (the thought of a busy 10 hour shift on them just finished me off )

I've developed a rattly cough over the last 2 days, have a continuous sore eye and then these on top...it's the last straw :sigh:...I need a good shake up!

Ooo hun, if they are firm to the touch and extremely painful it sounds like they have become thrombosed. It will clear up but when I had this it took two weeks and I ended up virtually bed bound. One recommendation from my Dr was to have what they call a sit in bath. Fill the bath to waist height with warm water, sit in it immersing your body from the hips down. It increases the blood flow to the lower half of your body which can aid recovery.

Hi Yvonne

I found the name of the gel for you...It is Rectogesic.

Rectogesic 0.4% rectal ointment - Anal fissure - Medicine Guides - NHS Choices

It us usually given for anal fissures but it also helps with haemorrhoids big time.

I was given this to help with haemorrhoids and it helped the pain from the ulcerative proctitis...(I had to use a tube).

It does make you light headed as it lowers the blood pressure and this can be a little scary...but the doctor won't give it to you if you can't take it because of a medical condition or other drugs you are taking....

Good luck....I hope you feel better soon...

(((hugs)))

Hi Red hows your bum today?hope you gave your o/h a slap for discussing your private stuff!!Serious though if they wont stay in and are hard I would ask for a referal and have the blighters sorted out once and for all.
