Has anyone else been advised not to take fastabs?

I'm the same as Bev, Mr Ammori has advised 2 x lanzoprazole - I was told for 1 year then reducing to one a day but on my last visit I was told 2 a day for life.
It is to stop any damage to your 'joins', prevention of ulcers etc.

I was definitely told 2 for life daily... but I'll check it at my review.

They go down ok... it's the zinc I struggle with.

Which one are you on Em, I'm on Solvazinc.. and it's vile... I can't take it everyday, it's the only one that makes me sick...

Love and hugs Angel, hope you are soon feeling better xxx

Im not too bad with taking the zinc, its remembering to take it 3 times a day after food.....you have to remember to wait till half hour after eating and then take zinc..does my nut in lol :D XX

The trick with the solvazinc is taking it in as small a draft as possible....I also found 3 a-day unmanageable so cut down to one or two and I've been fine.

glad i have read this,as i keep forgetting to take mine.i was only sent home with 2 weeks supply, wish they had told me the importance of them.
so will i get them on prescription, from next week then?

Thanks all, if i hadnt put it on here i would never have know and would probably have stopped taking them altogether when my months supply had finished. I just hope the GP doesnt say different. xxx

Andrea... they are important to us so be sure to get your repeat prescription... Lansaparzole... it'll help to heal your inner new joints and tum acids...

I've not missed any... but I have had to miss zinc... I'm keeping on trying with them...

Love you all xxx

dotty, i wonder if theyve reviewed it and found that we need 2 a day and not 1 after 6 months, its funny that recent oppers have been told that by mr amorri isnt it, 1 a day is better than non, have you got the number for chris n fiona, if u have do u fancy ringing them to check, im not sure where ive put it and im out this morning. if you cant, ill have a look when i get back later. when i emailed for my repeat script the other day, i added a little note asking if i could have some selenium/zinc, but there isnt any in my bag of drugs and no message either, so im gonna have to ring them up to later.
see u all later, hugs xxx

Hi all,

I wasn't sent home with any medication prescribed?? I used to take omeprozole for an over production of acid (which used to come up and out while I was asleep - sorry for detail) but since op I've had no acid, no indigestion, nothing so I haven't taken anything. So that's one tablet down. I have apparently been misdiagnosed with type 1 diabetes when it now looks like 2. My blood sugars haven't gone above 7 in nearly a month. So no metformim and no insulin. I'm only on one prescribed drug post op (which is one I've been on for many years) and to be honest I'm glad & I feel better. I've had years of pumping myself full of drugs that it's a relief not too!!

Andrea you're under the same health authority as me, I wonder why I was not told to take anything???

Xxxx

That's shocking! As a bypassed you should be taking the following for life as a minimum -

Lanzoprazole fastabs once daily
Calcichew twice daily
Forceval once daily
Ferrous fumerate sugar free syrup daily
Vitamin B12 injections every 3 months

By not taking them you are risking serious health problems through deficiency such as osteoperosis, pernicious anaemia, anaemia, psychosis, nerve damage and ulceration of surgical joints.

Hi Claire, i was sent home from hospital with a months supply of fast tabs....pain killers which i have never taken.
Also senekot and injections which i did my last one yesterday.
Im going to check with the specialist nurse today to ask about the fast tabs cos i dont think the gp with know and might try to fob me off. xxxx

Mr Ammori's Recommended supplements post op... xxx

Andrea... this is my checklist for you to compare with and Mr Ammori sent this to me and I had to take it to my GP to put on repeat... hope this helps. xxx

Lanzoprazole fastabs twice daily
Calcichew twice daily
Forceval once daily
Ferrous sulphate iron tablets x 2 daily
Vitamin B12 injections every 3 months
Zinc in soluble form, 3 tablets daily
Selennium in liquid for 2-4 caplets daily

xxx

Andrea... Calcichews are like a large white chewable calcium pill, they are not unpleasant to me and dissolve quickly.

They are available on prescription post bypass.

The Bassetts soft chewy vitamins, I only had those for a few days out whilst I couldn't swallow pills and I don't have those now since my prescription vitamins have come through...

Love and hugs xxx

Andrea, Like Bev i am also under Mr Ammori.
My supplements are the same as Bev. I have just had a full blood check and have now been taken off the iron tablets as the iron in my blood was way to high. I think all areas are different with what supplements they recommend.

Charm... have you had a reduction in your Lansoprazole after 6 months? Are you still on Selanese Oral Solution?

Love and hugs and hope you are well Charm, it's a great operation in my opinion... once I can shake this tiredness... I'll feel much better. xxx
