Having a sleeve!!

What your describing happened to me in 2009 following my rapid weight loss on oristat

I was crippled over in pain, thought it was a heart attack, radiated around my upper stomach and lower back. Kept happening a few times and each time in a&e I got buscupan injections and painkillers and it disappeared for a few days.

I then had another attack and the bloods tests at a different a&e (I refused to back to the same one) showed I was having a pancreatitis attack (get bloods done during an attack).

Don't want to scare you - but I then ended up in intensive care for 2 months as they didn't know what caused it. They kept scanning me and no gallstones - apparently.

I was then transferred to a specialist hospital and minute gallstones where found in my ducts and it's believed these kept tracing and aggravating my pancreas.

They removed my gall bladder and nothing since then in 2009.

My gallstones weren't visible in the gallbladder as too small. They only discovered them in the duct.

Ask them to test your bloods for pancreatitis and get moved to a specialist scanning unit. xx

I hope this gets sorted for you ASAP xxx

I had gallstones years ago. It took nearly 2 years to get a diagnosis. I had scans & tests galore but I was always told i had indigestion. It was only when they suspected kidney stones that the gall stones were found. It's the joint worst pain I've ever had, much worse than childbirth.
Dont be fobbed off Hun, no1 should hv 2 go through severe pain like this for any longer than necessary

The pain for me is like an elastic band around my rib cage. It starts in my back and within minutes I can be screaming in agony.. I live on my own so the first thing I do is ring my mum up and I can't even talk to her all I do is scream. Can't get comfortable in any position - laid down, hands and knees, stood, crouched nothing.. My tramodol take the pain off after about 403 mins taking them. I suggested something to do with pancreas but they said no, looks fine... The hospital tell me it's 'internal acid' but it still happens even when I take my acid tablets, I've NEVER suffered with acid... I just can't stand doing the same thing over and over to be told it's nothing serious.. I can cope with pain, I've suffered for 5 years with chronic back pain and I cope with it but I cannot cope with this it's like I'm being stabbed constantly and they're twisting the knife. Xx

I've not had a child so can't say it's worse lol but I've suffered with extreme toothache and it's worse than that. And I was in a state with the toothache lol x

why don't you phone the bariatric nurses hun, they may be able to help you more directly, get you an appointment there instead of A&E, at least they know what they are talking about xxx

I've tried ringing a few times no joy and no call back. I'm seeing them on the 30th of sept so will mention it to them then xx

That is the pain I had, exactly the same!

I couldn't do anything to get comfortable and I even collapsed my lower lung as I was trying so hard to breath through the pain. Laying down, sitting, i had to walk around the room and still thought I was dying.

I've never felt pain like it. Even my sleeve, having my stomach cut away, didn't hurt but that, wow... All in all I was in hospital 6 months (after ITU)

Blood test diagnose Pancreatitis, not scans, so no idea why you are being fobbed off - make a bariatric appointment.

Gall stones if mini are a nightmare to find, i had to go to a specialist hospital in Oxford to get the source of the Pancreatits found.

Hope they get this sorted for you ASAP xxx

I can't even walk properly when it starts :( I walk so slow and bent over at the waist.. And same here, I didn't have this much pain after my op :( just wish they'd listen to me. Will be mentioning it to liver specialist and then to the bariatric team when I go there. May make a docs appointment in between..

Thank you everyone xxx

Bless you hunni. NGH A&E really have no clue about bariatrics or who to send for if theres an issue

I had my gall bladder out when I was 14 or 15 (so many, many moons ago now), and you described the pain I had to a T.

They didn't know what to diagnose me with, either, because I was so young. Eventually they went with gall bladder, it was removed and pain was gone!

I feel your pain (almost literally, your story brought back near physical memories from over 30 years ago!), and hope you can find someone who can diagnose you and stop this pain.

I know Claire, they're poo heads!

She'll my mum had hers out 16 years ago and agrees that it's gall bladder, but they won't do a thing about it and like I said in an earlier post, they tell me it's internal acid :/ xx

Pffffffft on internal acid! I bet you have the tiny stones (more like sand) that Helen had.

Kirsty I've had two instances of this now - once in April and once again last night. I have never felt pain like it, it must sound as though I am in labour!!

I had my op privately and part of my aftercare included email access to my surgeon. I have emailed him with my symptoms to ask him what he thinks it sounds like - I am hoping that my (rather useless) GP will take me more seriously if I go to him and tell him I have a consultant who thinks it is such a thing.

I hope you manage to get sorted, I wouldn't wish this pain on anybody!

I had a gallstone the size of a conker that only showed up in an MRI. Pain was horrific and I walked round with a cushion for weeks to pad the pain. Sorry but I'll eat my hat if it is t gallstones or pancreatitis. Very painful and so right with symptoms. Ask them to take crp blood tests!!!

I think my neighbours (live in a block of flats) think I'm in labour or a weak ass b*tch cause each time I've been screaming like I've been stabbed or something... It's not nice at all. Had another episode tonight from about 11:30pm to about 2am. Called my mum at midnight crying saying I don't know what to do.. So my step mum picked me up and brought me to their house. I took Tramadol at home, didn't budge it, took solpodol when I got here at 12:30 didn't budge it but made me really woozy so managed to doze through it but still felt awake (felt like I was laid outside though - scared of swallowing spiders lol) funny how last year I took solpodol regular for back pain and it never had an effect...xx

I'm going to call my GP surgery first thing and try and get an appointment for tomorrow. Had another episode tonight for about 3 hours, nothing stopped the pain till I dozed off around 2am... Xx

Defo needs sorting Hun you can't carry on like this...I'm dreading it because I know I have to have my gall bladder out but surgeon doesn't want to risk doing it at the same time but gonna ask him again coz I can't go through that pain again. I really feel for you as I have had 4 kids and that's so much easier than gallbladder kicking off. Big hugs Hun and best of luck for sorting it xx

Bless ya Hun x he's trying to do what he thinks is right, but if you've suffered before and are more of a risk to get them again, then it may be better to have it removed at the same time.. My mum has had hers removed and the doctor I saw at the hospital when I went said I'm more prone to gallstones if my mum has had them and then on top if wls the odds are higher but still determined it's acid.. I fail to think what gallstone pain is like if this really is acid... :( xx

Went to see a GP she said pretty likely it us then and pain killers won't work should have ibuprofen told her I'm not supposed to have them so she said okay, next thing will be antispasmodic medication then.. So she has given me Audmonal capsules (alverine citrate) to take 1-2 capsules 3 times a day as and when needed.. Xx

Fingers crossed you get this sorted ASAP!

I just got flash backs and when I went into hospital they were convinced I was in labour! They said the symptoms were the same and my belly was like contracting and the pain in the back and stomach... When they dud the blood and said pancreatitis they said worse than labour!

Gosh. Wish you the best and hope it gets sorted ASAP. Wouldn't wish that pain on anyone - well maybe my ex lol ;) xx
