Having a sleeve!!

yay, its the little things hun that really make the difference xxx

Indeed it's the little things that count. It's the first thing that's made me think this has worked. Even with the weight loss, because I can't see it, it doesn't feel like it's working. So I'm glad I noticed xxx

Anyone out there had a sleeve?

Hi there Adrienne, I had a sleeve on 3rd jan 2014, so am 7 weeks post op, and must say it's the best thing I have done and wish I had done it sooner!!!!

I had my op on the Friday and came home on Monday. I had very little - infact hardly any pain post op, and never had any wind pain!!! I was on fluids only for the first 4 weeks - slim fast milkshakes and build up soups, and thin fluids ie. NAS squash, tea. The worst part of this was the craving to "chew" something - nearly chewed hubby's arm off one night!!!! Hehehe. I am now on 'soft' food, so as long as I can chew it into a 'mush' in my mouth I am ok. Still having a job to get enough fluids in during the day - but to be honest I have never been good at that even pre op!!! I guess this doesn't help with my bowels - only tending to open my bowels once a week, but I don't feel constipated!!!! (Sorry too much information,!!!!!)
I drove at about 3 1/2 weeks after checking with my insurance company, but only did short local journeys to start with.
Haven't had any info on alcohol, but might find out as we are due to go away next weekend, and would like to have a taste of cherry brandy - although I don't drink much or very often as hubby is tea total, but would be nice to have a small taste!!!!

I hope this helps, just remember everyone's journey is different, and i realise I have been very lucky so far compared to other people regarding pain ect, but although the scales are showing weight loss it is slower than some people, but I am noticing clothes are getting looser on me, so it is going the right way - and after all, the weight didn't go on in a few weeks, so I know it won't be gone in a few weeks!!!!!

Any further questions don't hesitate to ask x
Love sal xxx

Anyone out there had a sleeve?

hi Adrienne, its 6 weeks on Monday that I had my sleeve. I found it to be painful on my right side, that's where the majority of the op is done. I had pain in my chest from trapped wind, but that goes away once you start walking around. I have to say I have no pain now, had no pain for a good couple of weeks. Its the best thing I have had done, and lost over 3 stones already.

if you want any help, just ask, pop over to my diary and have a read as to how things have gone xxx

I just read that you have ! Could you give me some info on how you've felt and coped post op with pain and the food or lack of it ? Also how long until you can drive and drink alcohol ? X
Hi, I had my sleeve op 13 weeks ago. No problem whatsoever, no pain and easier than I expected. Rested at home for a few days, drove from day 5 to go to the hairdressers and then back to work day 6. I decided to keep this to myself, so just got on with it. Do everything your provider says, follow the rules and you will be fine. Had half a glass of wine on Xmas day which was 4 weeks post op. Just have an odd glass if I fancy one now at the weekend. Have lost 3 stones to date which I am over the moon about. Good luck to you with your journey.

How you getting on Kirst? X x

I'm doing good :) I tried a half a piece of a square of chocolate the other night and it had no affect on me (sugary things have been sending me to the loo!) still only hitting about a litre of fluids a day though :/ but also not eating as much now but not feeling hungry I'm on 3 small meals(I say meals but it's normally just one thing) and 2 snacks a day.. Also almost sleeping normally! Half on my tummy half off as the muscle where my biggest port is, is still very sore and painful but I'm all good :)

Hope you enjoyed your girly weekend xx

Kirsty

Aww fab sounds like you've recovered great! I had a brill time thx! X

I think it's down to have a quiet weekend to myself! Mum and step mum went to London to see their friends for the weekend.. I'm planning on going home this week now I know I can look after myself :) even if it's just a few nights this week and building up to full time back home! Glad you had a great time xx

nothing like being in your own space hun, sounds like you're doing great!! After my blood tests on Wednesday, I felt woozy so I had half a shortcake biscuit and it did the trick and didn't make me ill at all. At least I know I can tolerate sugar a little bit, but not going to abuse it xxx

Went to sleep too early last night, woke up at 6am with the start of a migraine, tried to get some more sleep and made it worse so I'm feeling rather icky today!

On a good note, I'm finally home! Woop woop!i am going to go to bed though, try and get this migraine to shift! Xx
