Help - Vitamins and Drugs

I am trying to get everything sorted so that I am ready to roll once out of surgery. I know that others have mentioned that their surgeons have written to their GPs with vitamins/drugs to be prescribed, but what about Sunderland patients, what is recommended by Mr Small and crew?

Hi Lesley
Bet you're getting excited now !
We don't need to start the supplements till one month post surgery - so i'm going to my GP this week to sort out the prescriptions to start at the weekend.
You'll get a leaflet through the post about 1-2 weeks after you get home with info about the recommended vitamin supplements. Sunderland recommend Boots complete A-Z, Centrum complete A-Z and Sanatogen gold A-Z. They will also give you a copy of the letter they send to your GP instructing them to prescribe the Calcium, Iron and B12 injections.

So no prescription charges?

Do you think it'd be worth getting this? Guess I'll see what they tell me to get.

I think it depends how many prescription items you need. To quote from the site:

Patients who have to pay for more than 4 prescription items in 3 months or 14 items in 12 months may find it cheaper to buy a pre-payment certificate (PPC).

How you doing hun? Getting all excited? So close now, only 4 sleeps to go!!! :D

AAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH <---I have moved on from feeling like this!!! feeling much better about it all now. My bag is arriving tomorrow so I can get my bag packed. Went to get my ant-acid (sp?!!?) tablets from the doc tonight. When I got those it kinda seemed a bit more real somehow!! How are you? Have you heard anything else from the hospital yet???

I saw Dr Branley at the thoracic clinic last week and he was absolutely lovely. He thinks it unlikely I've got sleep apnoea but obviously have to undergo the test which is scheduled this weekend. I then see Sufi on Monday and <fingers crossed> will get my date! :D

Just a bit worried about getting down to London now as there's major engineering works on my train line this weekend :(

It's a fab excuse to go shopping for a new bag and pj's etc isn't it? If I ever get funding I'm going to invest in an I-phone so I can talk to everyone from my hospital bed.

I'm one of those people who really struggles with swallowing pills so have to admit the thought of taking those massive vitamin capsules is rather scary.
