Ive just found out from another forum that my funding letter was only for my assesment so i got letter out and sure enough thats what it says so im so confused right now ive got the surgeon tellin me i will be havin op in anout 8wks and ive got the letter sayin ive got to meet there criteria for funding to go ahead i new it was to good to be true so i havnt a clue when im getin op now and im so disheartened by it all i feel so sad right now soz needed to get it off me chest lin.x

My PCT work that way too honey. Worry not once you have been assessed and passed as fit for WLS by the surgeon or specialist nurse, the process of final funding is relatively quick compared with the initial wait for the first stage.

Once you have been given the final go ahead they then have to do the operation within 18 weeks so you would be lucky indeed to get the op done within eight weeks.

Don't worry about this it will happen and you will make it to the losers bench, it just might take a tad longer than you want right now.

Lin i'm sorry you are upset, glad Karlos came along cause i'm not good at the nhs procedure but hopefully what Karlos has said will help and i hope that all goes well for you sending you a big hug to cheer you up x

Dry your eyes kiddo as Karlos says once you have been assesed for meeting the critaria etc it will come around quickly.I thought you had done all the psych,dietician,pysios,sleep test,bloods,ecg and weight management?Which hospital/doctor are you under for weight management? Your bmi is in the right range so dont worry hun.((hugs)) Maz x

I think Karlos hit it right. You say the letter states subject to you meeting the criteria? Well who decides that?---- your surgeon and he has already said he is willing to operate. I know it is tough and so much expectations ride on that funding but try not to lose your positivity. YOU WILL GET YOUR FULL FUNDING.

hiya all to many to put all ya names down lol but thanx for all the advice ive chilled me beans a lil bit now i think it didnt help with my totm hormones running riot right now i went for a bath to chill out it worked lol im okish now thanx karlos for sayin that hun i will try and send ya a pm but im not to sure how to do them but will try anayway hehe lin.x maz i wasnt under any weight management thing i just went docs and then got apt for assesment and when i had assesment he sed we have to tell you 17wks from today for op but where getin through are list very fast so will be in the next 8wks or so and defo b4 crimbo so im hoping he was right and the pct dont hold it up.x

My gp sent me to the surgeon without tests etc but and its a big BUT, i had done all the tablets and slimming clubs.....

i have done all the slimming clubs and tabs to and the doc knew id been on ww from jan last yr and that i had left and was about to join sw so mabye that and all the trys of tabs ive had of the docs and the depression ive had maybe this is what has made it go quicker i dont knw lin.x

hun my letter said exactly the same thing. but think about it. would they pay £150 for a consultation if you did NOT meet the PCT criteria? no! Waste of money. they only do that as there are a couple of (pretty rare) illnesses that can exclude you, which may be discovered during your consultation.
Don't worry everything will be fine.
What op are you going for?

And my NHS funded op was 4 weeks from consultation AND i like you had to wait for the PCT to give final go ahead. perfectly normal procedure hun although i know it is frustrating.

yh course, funding is in the bag hun, so long as the surgeon can find no medical reason for you not to have the surgery (which lets face it it's in his interest to operate on you) so would need to be pretty serious, your sorted xx
