The bay is kitted out with top notch equipment, so don't worry... they have the individual patient tv/phone/internet thingy that you can buy a daily card for.

I really wouldn't buy it for more than a day at a time - I was in on the Thursday and out by Sunday, so unless you encounter a snag of some sort, I can't see you being in for 6 days!!!

Do you have any apnoea at all? Has the Anaesthetist said that you will be high risk and need to spend time in HDU/ICU?

If all is well, you should be home soon enough! Try and go without smoking, as the hospital is totally non-smoking and I don't think there is a smoking area at all. I couldn't say as I don't smoke and none of the girls who were in with me did, either.

As for your bag... I took two kaftans in with me, but only really needed one as I stayed in my gown for the first 24 hours. I didn't change into my trousers or tops at all, so maybe only take some for travelling home. After the catheter and nasal gastric tube is out, you can have a shower... bliss!!!

Take a little bottle of spray water to cool yourself down with as you can get a bit warm in the bay, although they have fans!

The nurses are brilliant... I saw them again on Friday and we were talking about my time there - fond memories :)

Not long to go now, baba... this is the start of a new chapter for you... enjoy and savour it!!! :D

PS when the Theatre staff ask you what music you would like off Shaw's iPod, ask them for Bollywood!!! If Shaw is in there at that time, he will realise you know me...!!! :giggle:

hey ols thanks for replying its very helpful to know what they have there, thank god they have internet !!! i need that to stay sane im so much in touch with the world via email and msn rather than anything else....shaw said i would be in about 6-7 days as im having open surgery and im high risk as i dont cope well with anaethetic  sure im in good hands though :D im getting so excited :D

sure im in good hands though

The best, baba, the best!!! :D

And I thought there must be some form of risk when you mentioned 6 days...

Don't worry... the whole team are specialists in Bariatric surgery/nursing, so you will be well cared for :)

Oooooooh, not long to go!!! :bliss:

Hi, first of all congratulations sticking with the milk diet!! (Im not not a milk lover!) Secondly congratulations on the weight you have already lost. Just a quick question, where abouts in Kent are you? Im in medway and have just been refused surgery by my local PCT but my dr is going to appeal and fight for me.

Good luck on your operation, im sure you cant wait!! Hopefully i might get my chance in the future :)
