did you have any medical problems which had to stabilise before the surgery could be carried out?

Hiya gr09.

I was refered by my GP in november last year i was seen by consultant in february and i have my bypass this thursday.

I would have had it sooner but it was found i have sleep apnoea and had to be on CPAP treatment for a month before surgery. x:)

I had to have 1 appt with a haematologist but other than that no

oh im so happy for you, how much have you lost sice thursday or are you told not to weigh yourself to soon?
see ive been to have a sleep apnoea test and that came back as negative so i didnt have it, i have done all my counselling sessions with 4 healthy weight team im waiting now to attend the warts and all seminar, and just praying to God that i hopefully can have the surgery by the end of this year, but that might be wishful thinking :(

A blood specialist Hun.

I first saw the surgeon in November and had my op Monday just gone. I have weighed myself and lost 1.3st but I was 27st on the operating table so it depends on so many things.

When is your appt with surgeon?

Oh gosh of course that's normal. How old are you now? It can take a while to get the appt. every place is different but I had a 4 month wait just for the appointment

What is the warts and all seminar?

I am 23 and have had a 5 year long battle of trying to get this so I am with you completely. It is such a roller coaster when you do get your surgery date, I cried, wondered if I really wanted it, screamed etc. Was so weird.

I am in cambridgeshire and was operated in London.

its basically and big meeting for people who attend the tier 3 (4 healthy weight program) have to attend, it tells you in depth each surgery and also shows you things that could go wrong.
i cried when i got told im getting the surgery but then got sort of angry about havig to take part in this 4 healthy weight program but im not so angry now, i can sort of see the my new life

think ill be waiting for the postman tomorrow and also keeping my phone with me lol coz of what ive got of here the 'warts and all seminar' is held on the first of every month

Ahhh I went to one of them but it wasn't called that it was part of the appointment day with the surgeon. I did the tier 3, glad I did it as it prepped me for the pre op diet. It will come round in no time Hun

I guess it's different everywhere. I'm at Sunderland and the seminar is the first thing I did. Went to the seminar last October, saw the dietician in Nov, waited til Jun to see the surgeon, now waiting for an endoscopy. After that I'll have another wish to see the surgeon and all being well at that point will get listed and have to wait up to 16 weeks for surgery.

Even writing that process is long and exhausting!!!! I've resigned myself to a loooooong wait, trouble is the longer I wait the more I convince myself it's not a good idea!

Good luck.on your journey, hope you don't havd to wait too long x

Hi I was referred In October, had seminar and appointment with consultant 23rd December, given a target of 6kg to lose (which I did) then had a total meltdown and said the bypass was too major and I wanted the band (talked out of it, and after research glad I was) then I got a date (which I suggested) of 17th July. Op done last Thursday at James Cook by the amazing Mr Dressner and his team. I feel fine, I was so worried but thankfully I was in very safe hands, the staff there are fantastic, I would do it again in a heartbeat, don't let the long wait think negatively, use it to make the positives work. Good Luck. xx

I consider myself to be very lucky - my first appointment was at the beginning of December 2013 when I saw a member of the surgical team. I then had appointments to see the dietician twice, a psychiatrist and a bariatric nurse and I have my surgery booked for 23rd August for a sleeve.

Times have changed I was bypassed 22march but from seminar to bypass it took me 4 years things have speeded up quite a lot for the better. Debx

im gonna wait a couple of weeks and phone the team im with and see when im booked in for the warts and all seminar and then that should give me some idea :/ hopefully...
