I have got one and I think it is great, the best thing I have done. I don't get any periods at all, it's fab!

If you have any specific questions just let me know and I will answer them.

I have one. Its fantastic! I have not had any periods since I had it put in. I was 24 when I had it put in. It is due out in 2012 and once its out im going to leave things up to 'nature' and start a family.

My surgeon said its a really good idea to have it in as it is one of the most effective birth control mechanisms around which is good as he said to not get pregnant for at least 18 months post op as I had quite alot of my intestine re-routed ( I had the max that they can do as I have allot to loose) and he did not want problems with the malnutrition affecting a pregnancy.

ive got one is excellent regards totm but i still really bad tummy ache and getting bit fed up. xx

Hi)

I have had one for almost 2 years now. Its not for contraception as my OH had a vasectomy after our third child was born. Its for my periods as they have always been horrendous but were making me really anaemic and ill.
Its been fabulous, I had very light spotting-type periods for a couple of months then have only had 3 very light periods since and nothing since last October!
LOVE it! You can get a few side effects, but they were minor and only lasted a few weeks. I can't even recall what they were and I REALLY suffer with medication side effects normally.
xx

oooooo NO PERIODS sounds great

Tina < now wondering if she should get this coil just to stop the bloody monthlys lol>

Prob one small problem I was steralized after my first child. So Dr will prob tell me sod off lol

do they make you gain weight ?? as my gp mentioned that i may benefit from one.

I had one fitted few years back in the hope I'd have no periods at all. I was on Warafrin (blood thinner) at the time and TOTM was a nightmare.I use to have to wear Tena Lady pads . It didn't make a blind bit of difference, so after about 18months-2 years I had it taken out.

It didn't affect my weight though I did have cravings which I never use to get.

I've got one - my second one in fact. I had the first one for 5 years and it was great. When I had that one removed there was a lot of trouble getting it out and I couldn't face having another one put straight back in so I opted for the mini pill. After 2 months of that and having a period virtually everyday of that 2 months I went back and had the mirena put back in. It took a couple of weeks to settle back down though - now its no trouble at all - hardly any periods.

My friend went into early menopause with that. Put me right off, but I still harbour hopes so thats probably affected my view point

I have one - its great altho was really crampy for a few weeks after getting it in...but now its firmly wedged - and yes i was paranoid it would drop out!! I thinks we all hear the horror stories lol but its working for me. I got it because I was on my 3rd implanon implant and every time i started losing weight my period would start and wouldn't stop till I came off the diet. I managed to do CD twice both for 8 weeks losing 2 stone and had a full and heavy period throughout and was ready for killing someone or my self so it had to come out! I became really ill both times because my body just could not handle all the loss .....:(

I had one as itr was the only thing that stopped my nine month long period. It was great for the first couple of years but I did end up rejecting mine, which was really incomfortable, However, it would not have put me off trying another but I had all my womb lining scraped away last year so do not have periods any more. Igained no weight at all. Hope it helps. xxxx

How long ago did you have it put in Fuze?...I was told by FP and my GP recently that the Mirena Coil only last five years...I am overdue for having mine replaced as I have a an HRT patch that evens out my hormones as I was peri-menopausal at the time...It is dangerous to have my patch with the Mirena having reduced to nil levels of hormone after 5 years.

(((hugs)))

yeah no periods which is great but i get pain and its getting annoying. xx

Sorry Mandy

I would imagine that you are still getting the same period cramps that you had before, I thought that these ease after a while with the Mirena...If the pain is unbearable, you should give the doctor a shout.

Good luck

(((hugs)))

Hi Snow
The last one I had in was in there for six years , I forgot how long I had it for but I got it changed last May . Take care .
Margaret xx

Yes mine is also overdue...it's ok to leave it in for longer if you don't need the hormone in it though....I have to get mine removed and get my HRT changed altogether, or have another one put it and continue on my Evorell patch.

(((hugs)))
