When I got my first seminar date for Sunderland that was it just time and place etc.
For North Tees I received a questionnaire to be completed and handed in at my first seminar-it includes medical history, life style and eating habits, any physiological problems-past present, a bit on sleeping, a history of diets you've been on and a section on why you want the surgery.

its fine, My first appointment was the seminar, then I was told to lose 6kg (I lost 7) an appointment got lost in post so I rang them in april, I was given consultation with Mr Dresner and dietician, then asked at the same appointment which was a good time for me, I chose July but prob could have been sooner, I HAD TO FOLLOW THE LIVER REDUCING DIET FOR 1 WEEK BEFORE OP. AN AMAZING TEAM, MR DRESNER IS A LEGEND.

Thanks Gypit's great hearing from someone who has been to James cook. What did they cover in the seminar, was is the milk lrd? Also do you know if you can take anyone with you? I live about 40 miles away and hubby is driving me, but he'd like to come in with me if he can ?
Hi yes hubby came in with me and so did other peoples partners! They basically went through all the options of surgery! The risks efc then thd dietician speaks to you about what's expected from you before and after surgery!! X
my GP tried to fob me off with the 6 months weight management too, but I insisted that I have tried weight loss programmes umpteen times and with a BMI of 46 for at least the last three years with a few fluctuations but nothing major persuaded him that the 6 month course would not benefit me, he made the referral, which I expected to be to sunderland, but I received a letter inviting me to Seminar at James Cook on monday 8th Sept... so am about to embark on my journey... I have lost 2st 3lb since GP referred me on 31st July x

It's not a weight management programme ladygogs, under the new guidelines you have to be under the hospital for at least six months xx

To be honest I don't know if the services know what's happening themselves!
I'd already been to North Tees for my first seminar got my target weight to lose -8 kg and my next appointment confirmed with them is 21st November. In the meantime about 3 weeks ago I got a letter from the specialist weight management service saying I had an appointment with them for the following week. I rang up and explained that I was already under the bariatric team and did I need to attend their appointment. After a bit of humming and arrhing they said yes to still go. So that was an experience in its self, they didn't seem very organised and my question was, as I was already under the bariatric team would there be a contrast of interest, as I didn't want anything delaying. The consultant wasn't there (delayed) and they said he would be the one to know more. Anyway I saw the physiotherapist and psychologist who basically both took a bit of history. An hour later the consultant still hadn't arrived, so they said they would put my concerns to him and ring me later. The outcome was to still keep my appointment with bariatric team, as provided I lost my target loss the consultant thought things would progress with them. Also I could contact swims if I felt I needed any extra support at any time, but I'm not going to them regular, also they made me an appointment with a dietician as I've never seen one before.
