Oedema

Can any of you post op people reassure me that swollen puffy feet and legs go down following WLS? My legs and feet are dreadful at the moment with oedema.

Absolutely! I used to really suffer, since I have had the op I only get the usual fluid retention around the time of the month.

Long gone are the legs that were so swollen if I pressed them the dent was still visible twenty minutes later.

A few months pre surgery I started to get water retention in my feet and ankles, I had never had it before then though.
Since the surgery and the weight loss I have had there hasn't been a day where I have had any oedema at all.
Put your feet up this evening if you can, it is very warm tonight and try to put a cool towel over your lower legs whilst you have them elevated.
It will get better soon after your surgery.

yet again someones asked exactly what i needed to know ,i love this site , feet so swollen today couldnt get going out heels on, gotta go out tonight in flip flops !,at least there comfy, another reason this wait for the op is worth it!

my oedema def improved post op. only prob is my varicose veins are even more visible than b4. they do cause some swelling but nowhere near as bad as b4

Hell yes babe!I havnt had swollen feet or legs this year!No itchy restless legs in bed.No bulging veins,sweaty pits,hair stuck to my head,rubbed thighs,belly button infections,tummy fold sores,hard skin on feet,aches or pains,headaches or snoring!Bloody marvelous eh!You have it all to come!Maz x

one thing that really upsets me ,is the state of my feet,,hard skin,,is gross,,,,and the agony of getting in a position to remove it,if anyone see me ,id die of embarressment,legs akimbo, teetering on the edge of the bed,holding my breathe,need a bleeding aqua lung to paint my toe nails !, thanks to hubby they look great but i wanna do my own girly things! x

Morning all

Since my op my feet and ankles have shrunk considerably! Prior to surgery I'd be lucky to get my big toe into a fashionable shoe!! That's all changed now and I also don't get puffy ankles in the hot weather ;-)

It will come Dawn,I relyed on hubby to do the hard skin,thank god I can do my own lady gardening!The belly is starting to get in the way though its kinda hanging.lol

Definitely!! Only 1 week out of surgery and I have ankles!! I'm showing everyone who comes to visit my new found ankles!! I really suffered before the op they always ached and made me feel lousy.
