First thing I said when I woke up and had visiter's which was my mom and my daughter (absolutely true this) was "mom, have you booked my holiday?" pmsl, you see I wouldnt let her book untill I came out of theatre, just incase ........... lol. I focused on that holiday and it helped me.

gr8 advice wl18s, focus to the positives not the negitives and it will get you through this. x

my Son was in hospital a few months ago, and had to have a canula in (he's 16 and mega needle phobic)....the Doctor said it makes it more difficult for them to get it in if you're worked up and stressing because apparently this can make your veins collapse (not telling you this to alarm you, but hopefully will make it much easier if you can relax)
easier said than done, but the cream will help too :)

thanks gaynor, your a star.

so is something to calm my nerves before hand an option? and can you go down in your bed instead of walk?!

.x.

Yes, explain to the anaestetist that you are petrified and want a pre-med - they can give you temazepam or Valium.
They used to do jellies as well but stopped them as Drug users kept nicking them or so I believe.
If you have a premed you will have to be wheeled somehow - whether on yr bed or in a wheelie.
Glad you are sounding a little better Becca, we are all here for you.:hug99:

i had vallium before my LP... im not sure i took enough though... :(

.x.

Yes Becca, a pre med will calm you down before going into the anaesthetic room. If you have a pre med you have to go to theatre on a bed or in a chair. So ask for a pre med and it will help you in more ways than one lol xxxx

lol thanks gaynor!

Ask for a high dose of valium as you have had it before - this can sometimes reduce the efficacy of this particular drug. They might have somekind of new fangled drug. Tell everyone how anxious you are to really bang the message home.

lol!!!!

im not sure my OH would love that lol

lol well he's not gunna be there so i guess what he doesnt know...

lol

Hi
me too I was nearly leaving the hospital that morning a few weeks ago !!! I panicked and was a right state - you know it is all in your head it is not as bad or painful as you think it will be and that wait in the morning and the dreaded theatre walk will go quickly just stay focused on why you are having this it will all be over before you know it xx
