I'm 40 years old, have two kids & have managed so far to avoid marriage

My OH has proposed several times to which I have brushed him off. Yet I've just agreed to marry him if I get down to 10stone......

Luckily I've not yet got a surgery date. At this moment in time he's texting all our friends etc. to tell them

I'd say sod waiting until you reach 10 stone, do it now! I married the love of my life 2 years ago, we stowed away on a ship with our three children and parents in tow and had an amazingly fabulous time. I LOVE being Mrs Cuppa!

Afta a posted that about not being a fat bride I realised I might have upset/offended some people & I sincerely hope I have not.

However, I have been ridiculed for years by my mam & an abusive ex so have zero self confidence & hate the thought of anyone looking at me. So the thought of people looking at me in a wedding dress at my current weight makes me feel physically sick.

So its purely I personal thing not wanting to be an overweight bride. Sorry if I've upset anyone.

I know exactly what you mean, I dreaded the thought of everyone looking at me in a size 30 wedding dress, hence why we snuck off and did it with no one other than the Captain of the ship watching! What a great incentive to have though, I wish you the very best of luck with achieving your goal.

We are all in the same boat don't forget The main thing is feeling happy and confident on your big day, and if I could feel that way before I had my op I would have married my OH about 10 years ago. But it's a choice isn't it? And what feels right to us as individuals Hugs x

I know what you mean about a fat bride, Im 40 and got married aged 22, I was 22 stone and had to have a white suit made especially for me. I never had a big white wedding to avoid walking down the isle. People told me I looked lovely on the day, but I knew they never really meant it, it's just something people feel they have to tell a bride.

Congratulations! I got married in September 2008 to my gorgeous husband. We chose that date to celebrate having been together for 20 years. I managed to lose a lot of weight before the wedding and my dress was a size 16. I was 49 at the time and never thought that I'd get married again.

My husband chose the song for our first dance - 'You are so beautiful to me'. On the day I felt beautiful and I felt loved and I felt exremely happy!

Don't worry what size you are - if you are in love you will have a wonderful day. xx

Aw congratulations i understand where you are coming from i was a "fat bride "17 years ago and felt so uncomfortable. It is def about when you feel comfortable but you obviously have a lovely OH like most of us who loves you for being you and thats whats important. You will be out looking at stunning outfits before you know it i'm sure xx

Aww how lovely, don't think you have caused offence at all my lovely!

My husband proposed last year and i said yes when i'm thin. Then as i got closer towards the end of the year i decided it was about us wanting to have a good solid commitment so we decided to get wed with just a few friends and family.... In a few years we will have a blessing with the works and i'll feel and look wonderful...

It's all about when you are ready and happy xx
