Ok today was fab and def the start to a new me.
I decided to ask aaron`s friend and Aaron to drop me there and pick me up so gave him £20 quid so did not have to worry bout finding a space to park as my knee was giving way quite a bit.
Got dropped off at 3.30 and as soon as i walked into the canteen where the meeting was meant to be i saw a lovely lady in a striped top and meggiemoo aka Ellen said she was wearing a striped top and i smiled at her to make sure i was not approaching the wrong person lol.
So we sat down and had a natter then Natalie turned up with her hubby and we all had a good natter then went into the meeting, thank you so much Natalie and Ellen you 2 made me feel at ease and feel comfortable in a public situation and its so nice to meet the 2 of ya and share our wls journeys together xx
Was meant to be 13 of us but just 6 turned up, 5 women and 2 guys which really pis**es me off as there must of been 6 other people who would of jumped at the chance of an earlier app.
Kirsten the bariatric nurse and Lucy the dietician were so friendly and approachable which was fab.
We watched a slide show with all the diff ops and pro`s and con`s then had a break then had another slide show then had a chance to ask questions.
Of course i asked loads and one good thing i found out is that when they apply for funding it is from the weight ur gp referred you and not the weight when the consultant see`s you.
Kirstein said that with my bmi she cant see any problem with funding and Enfield is not a hard pct for funding, i was told diff bout a yr ago so hopefully things have changed.
The process can be from as short as 4 months which is very rare but could happen to a yr depending on ur health probs and tests u need doing.
On Monday we can call the appointments line and our appointments will be in the system so we can find out our first date, then on tuesday and every other day i will be calling the appointment line for a cancellation as there are so many of them, today proved that.
Usually on ur first consultant app funding is applied for and in the mean time we have to have certain tests, 80% of peeps have the sleep apnea one, but we can take the machine home so it gets done quicker without having to wait for a date at the hospital, some peeps have to see a shrink if they have binge eating or other probs, some a cardiologist if they have had a heart attack and endocrinologist or other specialist appointments.
I will def have the sleep apenea one done not sure bout the shrink am hoping not lol.
So i am excited and today is def the first day of a new life for me and surgery is def the right way forward for me and looking forward to finding out my next app then will know more.
Off for a shower am shattered 2 nights of not sleeping hopefully will sleep better tonight and chill for the night xxxx
Thanks for all of ur support i really appreciate it, and i have just started posting in this section as usually i just read them but dont post and only wrote on my diary thread but the past week it has all changed and the support of you all is fab xxxxx
