I go for my sleep tests tomorrow yipee, if it comes back as positive for sleep apnea it will explain why I never get a proper nights sleep and always wake up feeling worse then when I went to bed lol....Linda x

good luck linda, let us know how you get on. just think you will soon be able to say goodbye to sleepless nights forever x

thanks hun, my poor little cat sleeps on the bed with me and she never moves an inch all night I thrash around like a mad woman and in the morning she gets up stretches and then gives me a kiss as if to say "get out of bed now and give me peace"....Linda x

Hi Linda
Sounds like you have apnea, i used to feel the same, wake up and it felt like i'd not gone to bed at all, i used to fall asleep in meetings, and once or twice fell asleep sitting on the loo :D
I never had my apnea diognosed, but i researched it and i'm sure i had apnea.

I used to think it was because I was lazy, I sit down to read a book and feel shattered and nod off, at times in work I want to put my head on the desk and sleep. Its hard to function properly without a good nights sleep so hopefully they will confirm it and then that will help towards my plea to the PCT.....Linda x

LOL, my 2 dogs used to sleep on my bed, I'd be the one stuck on the edge whilst they thrashed about all night! Now they sleep downstairs so i can sleep starshaped if I want! LOL

Good luck tomorrow hunny, will look forward to hearing your results!
Have you got to go to sleep in one of those places whilst the watch you through the 2 way mirror and monitor what youre hooked up to? Or is it a lot simpler than that?

Gina!xxxx:chores016:

lol god no thank god! I get hooked up to a little machine and come home to sleep as normal then have to get up at the crack of dawn to return to hope hospital to hand the stuff back before 10am and no later! So I will probably be scared stiff of oversleeping and getting stuck in rush hour traffic so I guess another sleepless night....not sure how long it takes to get the results but I will be asking when I attend so I dont stand waiting yet again for the poor postie! Linda x

hows it gone linda. im at hope at 11 but i could get there a little earlier if you fancy meeting for a coffee.

Hi Carole just replied to your PM I would of loved to of done but I was there for 9am as I was unsure how busy the motorway would be. Hope everything went ok for you. I am a bit concerned that when I handed back the sleep test equipment the receptionist was on the phone, she did not take my name so how will she know that the info on it belongs to me? I have called the secretary but it went to voicemail.....Linda x

Had my sleep test, nothing to it. Had to strap a little machine around my chest, have a pulse thingy on my finger and the little plastic tubes that sit just up your nose. Apart from a red mark on my finger there was no discomfort at all. It was a long journey to manchester to get the machine yesterday afternoon and then back again to drop it off before 10am today but its done now and if it shows I have apnea all the better will answer a lot of questions in my head and help towards my request for funding....Linda x

Had a call this afternoon from a lady at PALS, I had spoken to her at the back end of last week when I wanted to know if the consultant etc wanted the surgery would the PCT fund it. She has only just got back to me she has spoken to Val at the PCT who stated that if my tests results confirm I have sleep apnea I will almost certainly be guaranteed funding for surgery. It will be such a relief on two counts, one obviously I want the surgery and two to know for sure the reason I never do more than drop off only to wake up with a big breath and then go back through the cycle. Fingers crossed that luck is on my side for once.

On another subject altogether one of my cats Bob had to have 10 teeth removed today, he is looking and feeling very sorry for himself. I have to say I think it hurt me more than him when the vet said £304.00 thank you very much!!!!!!!!

hey Linda thats great news, sorry not about poor old Bob, but that you have had it diagnosed, not only will it make geting funding a bit easier, but you now know why your constantly tired.
Good news is that the apnea is one of the first things to ease after the op, i no longer snore like a chain saw, i dont fall asleep in meetings any more (no matter how boing they are) and since the op i've not felt in the mornings that i'd been on the lash al night :D

Do you think I have it? I never really snore (sleep alone and the cat wont tell me) however when I nod off and wake I either do a loud snort of sorts or suck in a lot of air. When asked if I would fall asleep reading or watching tv I said most definitely, after a large meal relaxing, yep again but not sitting in a meeting I do get extremely tired if I have been talking a lot and just want to be left alone to nap so that might be the same thing. I guess I am just looking for reassurance from someone that has had it to see if my symptoms fits the bill.....Linda x

I'm no expert but from the symptoms you described it does sound like you have it, though people get it in different ways so your symptoms may be different to others.
