Post Op - Drinking

Hi i was wondering how people got on with the not drinking 1/2 hr before and 1 hrafter meals.

I have stuck to it since my op no probs, I was told half an hour either side. If I go out for a meal I just get a glass of tap water and it just sits on the table so at least I look like I have a drink.

Torture. I fail at this miserably. I would be forever eating and drinking what with 3 meals, 3 snacks, tablets and drink. It's pants. I stuck to it in the beginning but I sip drinks throughout now x

I hate it but I stick to it, I often finish meals earlier just so I can have my drink quicker :(

I try really hard and can do it but its torture! I find myself clock watching I do the after meal no drinking it was said to be at my meeting before the op hate to think what I would do if I had to do the before AND after meals!

I'm awful at it too. I'm ok with the post meal drink, but I always seem to sip while I'm cooking. Get ready to sit down and eat and think B**ger, i only drank 5 mins ago.

Yes! Sounds like me :) i am fine with not drinking during or after meals.. But before.. I have to really stop myself and watch the clock to make sure i dont eat too soon :)

I think this is probably the hardest rule to stick to. I tend to not drink with my meals but do with my evening snak - getting fluid in is a chore now. I used to swallow gallons of diet free fizzy with every meal before my op

My surgeon says to stop drinking 5 mins before and then at least half an hour after food. If I drank water I would struggle but I drink unsweetened fruit tea and have no issues other than if I forget when busy. I always have a hot drink at my side using a really good travel mug. It's a Contigo autoseal, expensive but fantastic. Its keep a drink hot for around 3 hours so it doesn't go cols whilst I am sipping away. Managing 1.5 to 2 litres a day.

I was told the advice on this has changed and now you should treat drink like food so 20 20. As I understand it I am supposed to eat and then wait 20 and drink. I just can't drink at the same time. I guess it's worth asking of the same if True for you.
