i dont know if this in right section but iv noticed in last few weeks my mobilty is getting less even getting out of chair is an effort and it really getting me down so much, i know there is light at end of tunnel but coping with being barely able to function is so depressing , im so blessed my revision has been approved but with my band not working in meatime im a state, My meds made me gain so much weight so quickly my body just cant adjust . just hoping maybe someone can relate to the feeling of struggle to move :(

I'm like that too. A year ago I could still do some supply teaching. Even at Christmas I could move better. I thought it was just the cold weather but it has been really nice weather recently but I am still not getting any more mobile.

Yes, at my biggest I was struggling. Although that said I was still teaching full time but it exhausted me. It will get better girls and there is nothing stopping you trying to lose a bit now. Even half a stone may help :)

I'm at my biggest at the mo and my mobility is really bad. I am in pain constantly with lower back and can not stand unaided for more than a couple of mins. I've got constant aching pain down my legs and generally feel like crap. So yes hunny I can relate, the only thing that's keeping me going is knowing that there is a light at the end of the tunnel finally. Hugs hun xxxx

:(

Hi mazza do you in any way have access to a pool? Doing some movement in water could help out with your mobility outside of water and is really gentle on your joints and back.

thanks girls gona try and keep going and have another slow walk today but got to have another defill this afternoon :( its like walking thru treacle trying not to gain any weight back bloody meds! but it can only get better

Hi lifesajourney, the thought of going to a pool is mortifying :(
The CNS at the hospital did day that some pools do sessions for overweight people who can go in tshirts and shorts, so am going to look into that. It's just hard to get motivated when you have no energy x

Before I had my op my mobility was practically zero. I broke my back when I was 19 and had a spinal fusion 8 years ago which went wrong and caused left sided weakness and chronic nerve damage. Hence I put on weight, more and more and a vicious circle started.

I couldn't sit/ stand/ walk do anything for very long at a time and it was very depressing and at 34 l was told I would be in a wheelchair within the year. With young children I was willing to do and pay whatever needed to try and put this off.

11 months and 8.5 stone loss later life is totally different and although I am still on a lot of medication and pain killers I can do so much more and play such a more active life. Don't give up, it definitely gets better.

I used to live on pain killers, I used to take upwards of 4 a day to keep me mobile, on top of this I only worked part time and would nap most of the afternoon to get through to the night. It was a vicious circle of feeling in pain and eating to make myself feel happier! I never walked anywhere as it was too painful too.

I def know where you're coming from, it will get better. Just keep your chin up.

xx.

I went to buy a wheelchair today as I have missed the last year of my daughters lives because of my mobility problems. The bloke in the shop was ok but did mention that it's as just as well I fitted in the chair as the next size is much more expensive!!!

I had hoped to not have to get one but with my band in 4 weeks I can't imagine being very mobile this summer, so thought I would bit the bullet. I hope it means I get out a bit more!

I do think the bad weather has been slowing down a lot of people with mobility issues.

How are you getting on with the wheelchair hun? Hope it's helping somewhat!!! Xxx

It's OK but I don't like it. I was pushed from shop to shop and then walked around the shop for as long as possible. It did mean that when it got late for the car park we had a 'go faster' option that we don't normally have.
