I was just wondering as I'm nearly 3 Years out I can eat about 160-180g of plain roast chicken for lunch. I think that's a lot x

I can eat that at 8 months out. x

It's strange in away wen u look at how much I (we) all would have eaten before surgery and compare it the amount we eat now before I could have eaten a whole chicken ( well given it a good go) x

I'm nearly 6 months out and I can eat 3/4 of a normal restaurant meal. Nothing else though, no starter/dessert obviously. But I can definitely eat more than I thought I would be able to at this point.

Im 13 weeks out and can just about eat a small matchbox size piece of chicken!same for cheese, fish etc!I would of eaten a full leg for lunch pre surgery.

I can eat the meat on a weatherspoon roast dinner and about a quarter of the veg..... I did make some Thai eggs the other day (similar to scotch eggs) managed one x

It depends what i'm eating tbh. If it's a cooked dinner i can manage about 80 - 100 g with a bit of mash n veg... Yet i can eat a shop brought meat/salad sandwich and polish off a yoghurt on top. Dense protein fills me so quickly...

I have not touched bread had a nasty experience a couple of years ago ... Pre packed meat I can eat more of rather than home cooked meats lol I must dry it out ... I Neva drank milk until i had too took a lot of getting used to and a lot of praying to the White god and sitting on his throne ... Lacto free is brill xxx

Weird isnt it I can drink half pint milk slowly but meat is very hard to get down. Some veg and fruit is hard to eat to.Suppose its early days yet for me.

would of eaten a full leg for lunch pre surgery.
Gosh shows what a pig I am (still pre surgery) I am with Tink
before I could have eaten a whole chicken ( well given it a good go) x
oops!

Im 21 months out and it very much depends on what Im eating as to how big my portion is.
For a roast dinner, Id normally have one large slice of meat with maybe 1 roast spud - sometimes two and plenty of veg.
For a sandwich sometimes Im full after one half, and sometimes I can polish off both halves with no problem.

Generally I find if I eat rubbish I can just eat and eat with no restriction, but if I eat "properly" then a childs portion is about right.

Thank you everyone, I thort this might help different peeps understand the differing amounts as we progress through our journey xxx

This thread has been a fantastic eye opener for me thanks Thinkerbell. I've been getting in a right tizz about this 60g of protein I'm meant to be having each day. It just shows me everyone is different, I've just gotta relax and let my body let me know what it needs!

Great thread gives us all an idea of what to expect and find our own right level. An eyeopener to when you compare pre-packed and home made meals the portion size difference you can eat. Thanks Ladies.

As I said I can eat quite a lot even at under 6 months out but it is nothing compared to pre op! I used to eat 3 course meals all the time.
I do have a tendency to graze now though and have to watch that. Smaller portions but more frequent meals equals quite a lot of food. It's been really interesting reading this thread!

i do not have the restriction i did like i used to have when i was banded, with banding a childs portion was more than enough and sometimes i couldnt finish that, since my bypass that has gone, i have very little restriction as i used to know it and can quite easily eat a average adult portion but nothing like what i could before any of my surgeries, i do eat substantially more now post op bypass than post op band, thats how it is with both experiences for me x

Wow Liz, you've surprised me. I thought your restriction would be about the same or less...

Still you're losing weight and looking fab :) so it's all good xx

Hi Tink - great thread and very interesting reading!

You mentioned Thai Eggs - I'm intrigued!!! Do you have a recipe that you can post.
