I was put on the list in january 2011 , I rang them in July and I was 70th on the list , MarkyO had his surgery in August and he waited a year , give the secretary a ring if you want to know where you are

Well.. just called.. she says theres 170 infront of me and it's to early to give a time frame.. blagh

I believe so yes, that was where my first appointment was, then at orpington so not entirely sure!

I was put on his list in March and called the sec to find out I was 176th on the list and that was a few weeks ago, so it seems he is only doing a couple per month!!
Think it's going to be a very long wait!!

I was put on the waiting list on the same day as you but every time I have rung up I'm told there's at least 200 in front of me etc, I know they must get loads of phone calls about the waiting lists but if they gave us approx dates then we wouldn't need to ring up until that date!
I might give them a ring this week, I'll let you know how I get on.

Just spoke to the secretary and I'm about 110 on the waiting list. I've been on the list for nine months and I was in the 200's back then.
Everyday is a day closer!

That must feel good to know by mid next year you should have had your op and be on the losers bench

I went on Hassani's waiting list November 2010 but decided to go private and had my op in Sept.

I stay in touch with one lady who I went to the group session with Starr at The Sevenoaks hospital and she has not heard a thing. I will ask her to ring and see where she is as she has been on the list one year now.

To be honest I really don't know anything about the private side of surgery but I'd suggest giving them a call and find out.

i was thinking that as the company i'm using said they would be ringing me since tuesday!

I would have rung them Wednesday morning if they were meant to ring me tuesday lol. You need to get your pre op stuff done with them. Good luck

It usually has to be before, in case there are any problems that could delay or cancel the operation. Though, I have no experience of private. The NHS seem to do theirs up to a few weeks before. So then, if something like your iron levels were low, there would be a chance to try and sort it (just an example really)

I went private - had 4 weeks between first consultant visit and op - saw the consultant 4 days before op, but he was in constant contact by phone, and gave me the dates and paper work in the first week.

Hi, i'm new to this, i'm going private cus i cant wait on the nhs, i have my op booked for the 11th feb, and have not heard anything from the hospital yet! is that right payed my deposit, I'm having it at the chelsfield park hospital kent with dr hasani, is this right or should i have heard by now?
maybe i'm just worrying for nothing, its just i cant believe i having it as waited so long to get here!

I have decided to go private as nhs takes soooooooooo long, my op is the 13th march (had to work it around things and having enough money, or it would have been on the 24th jan) any way my hospital (different to urs I know) contacted me on Monday through letters to book per op and with diet sheets and everything seams to happen 2 weeks before surgery, so I would ring them to confirm everything is on track. Xxxx

Thank you for all putting my mind to rest,
i've rang the hospital, spoken to a nice lady who said she will ring be back on monday to book me in as she was not in the ward at the time,
so hopefully fingers crossed things will fall in to place now
i am so excited and really cant believe i am going to have it done, i suppose i will only believe it when i'm recovering!!

Hi hun,
I had my op a chelsfeild in September 2011, i had my pre op on the wednesday before my hospital admission on surgery day (saturday)at 8am.

You should receive all the relevant information about the pre op diet as you will start this at least. 2 weeks before surgery.

Also at the pre op they will give you the picolax medication ( laxative) that you need to take the day before your op so dont expect to go anywhere this day, also you are not allowed to eat anything on this day but you can drink orange juice and water etc. They will also give you a portable breathing tube to practice deep breaths with before and after the op, this prevents chest infections and encourages your lungs to return to normal after you op.

I wish there was a hospital with a faster waiting list I could go to in the Midlands. That would be awesome lol
