Hi
I just wondered if anyone had been given a victoza injection pen by there specialist to help with losing the weight I was given orlistat originally but reacted badly with it and so now have to do another 12 weeks with this medicine to try and lose some weight before I can be put forward for the next stage towards surgery would appreciate any advice people can give me thanks

I had one. Can't say I think it made any difference in losing weight, although it certainly helped reduce my blood sugar levels. I think it was just one of the steps I had to go through to prove I was seriously trying to lose weight and to go forward for surgery. I finally stopped using it during the liver shrinking diet pre-operatively.

I've never heard of it before. I am right at the start of my journey also and was informed I needed to do 12weeks weightloss plan with a tier 2 weight management plan and I chose slimming world. Currently 18lbs down and hoping the doctor will refer me on the 6th Jan. Long road ahead

My other half had one and did lose weight but thats because he was in a constant nauseous state!

Yes I thought that but have to do another 12 weeks to prove I am serious about losing weight really worried this won't help me lose the weight though so fingers crossed when I go back in march it will have helped and he will refer me for surgery this time thanks for replying x

Hi good luck for your journey and well done on your loss so far
I was given orlistat and although I don't eat a lot of fatty foods or fried foods I had a really bad reaction to them I am on the next tier I done a 12 weeks weight loss course before seeing my surgeon and he then give me the tablets for another 12 weeks before he will consider referring me on to the surgeon so this will probably be your next step x

When I had orlistat it had no effect on me whatsoever. So really I think all you can do is try things and hope that you will be the one it works for. I had nausea on victoza, but for me it only lasted for about one day.

Gosh, really haven't heard of that! I managed to avoid orlistat too as I had tried so many times losing weight, mainly with SW and did lose around 3 stone each year, but ended up putting it back on every year too! was fed up of the constant cycle! Anyway, good luck with it, some teams/surgeons have more hoops that we need to jump through to get to the surgery but it will be worth it!

Yh I've been informed that I'll be sent to the hospital next as in the passed have been put on those Meds, defo not great at all. Let's hope we all get to where we wanna be sooner rather then later
