Band on the run!

OK, I have done it!
Having spent the evening chatting and getting advice from lovely ladies on here, and thinking about doing this for about two years...

I have a consultation on sunday, and have a place booked for 2nd May, mainly as I have a holiday booked for that week, and not another one possible until October.

Hubby was not very happy about this initially, but has suddenly decided if it's what is going to make me happy again, then it's worth the money.

That was the turning point really, of it becoming within my grasp. He was incredibly supportive when I just called him. (He is away on business until next week).

SO: Deposit is paid. Surgeon is chosen. Method (band) picked.

Oh.
My.
God!

wd hunni wishing you all the best............... now get reading lol lots of useful information on the banders section :) all helpful stuff so you know what to expect etc

Glad hubbys supportive thats a huge bonus to start with :) gl again...... and remember were all here to help you thru x x x

Well done for getting it booked! I'm booked in on 6th May for a sleeve, starting to count the days down now, really wish it was next week though - I just want it doing now!! You're lucky you're in so quickly, you haven't got long to wait - the suspense is killing me.

Who's your surgeon and where you having it done? x

Hi Mrs Duck.
I know- its very fast.. it was kind of now or not fro 9 months really.
I still am allowed to say no if I think its not for me once the consult is done.. but I know I wont! Its fast now Ive taken the plunge, but I have been thinking about nothing but for months.I ordered the brochure ages ago, and pretty much look about the internet every evening about it.
Im in Dolan Park Bromsgrove, with Mr Smellie, who usually is in London or Manchester I think. I live in Solihull, west midlands, so its just up the road really.
I cant work Im so excited and nervous now lol
I have to though or I wont be able to pay for it! Bahaha

Ooh that's fab - you're 2 weeks before me so looking forward to reading all about your journey xxxx

Thanks Banderbird
Im trying to imagine it- I just cant!
Ive been reading everyones stories.
Im so worried about it not working- thats my one big scaredycat concern.
Its terrifying! And exciting all rolled into one.
This is the beginning of my journey back to healthy living, regular exercise, not aching, not feeling lethargic and lumpy, feeling happy and content and attractive again. What an amaaaaazing thought!!

Ive been dreaming about the days when I was fitter and slimmer.. and getting back in the gym will be the first thing I do when I feel less lethargic and bloated.
I got myself up to regular 5k runs at one point- dont think my knees would take that at the moment but boy am I on that when Im a bit lighter!
I raised £1500 for MacMillan on one run.
Why oh why did I let myself get into this mess? lol What a chump!
Oh well... at least Im fixing it now eh?

I just got my 20th post.. ok so two of them on word games which is a bit cheaty, but Im so bored with scrolling past the red message lol

I told one bessie mate here in Brum, my online bessie mate from USA last night, and my sister and her daughter (my fave niece) today about the op- they were all incredibly supportive and excited for me- I think they are looking forward to having the old Juicy Lucy back :D
That's it though, I'm not telling anyone else. I chose those who I will confide in carefully.
Everyone else will think its just diet and fitness alone I think. Ive done it before- no reason they should think anything else.. just this time it will stay OFF!

Just got back from my consultation.
Didnt go well really as I felt the surgeon just wanted to go and have his sunday roast. I was his last job. Boy was that obvious! I kinda welled up (most unlike me but I am a bit of an emotional wreck right now) and felt reeeeeeally foolish, but this is life changing -and life savings spent for me.
He did apologise when I told him that he was rushing me through it, but the questions I had diminished after that, and I closed up like a big round podgy clam.
Luckily Sally, the lady who makes all the appointments at Dolan Park, was there to pick up the pieces and anyway Im in with a different surgeon now.
So boo ya sucks to you Mr Surgeon! :giggle:

I had my bloods done too, as Im first in on friday, as I am very local so I get to go home that evening, all being well... so Im already in pre surgery!!
I also bought a pair of white cotton knickers and some windeze, and peppermint tea on the way home... so I'm getting prepared!!

Good luck with your journey and well done for taking the plunge. I had all my consultations at dolan park and through them I am booked in to have a gastric bypass at Solihull Spire on 21st May with Mr Richardson. Feeling the nerves now lol. Good luck hun x

I saw 3 consultants at dolan park before I found the right one for me, the first two I just didnt gel with and I wasnt prepared to give them my hard earned cash or put my life in their hands!!!. I Knew the minute I met my chosen consultant that he was the one for me.

I saw the band today- thats the first time Ive really thought about it as an operation in that way- I found it really interesting, seeing how it actually works. The surgeon explained it but thats still very distant from reality, when its drawn on a pad. Seeing it and feeling it really helped me.
