4 week Milk diet done....and i lost a total of ....

Hi everyone
I got back from seeing my GP tonight and updated him on my progress with the pre op diet that L&D insist on.
I have to lose 5% of my bodyweight before i see the surgeon just to prove i'm capable of what's expected post op.
I'm on 5 pints of semi/skimmed milk,1 oxo cube,1 sugar free jelly and a multi-vitamin tablet and have been on this for 2 weeks with another 2 weeks to go.

I jumped on the scales and acccording to the reading...i've lost 26lb !
I realise that they're not the same scales and may be out...but i was shocked that i've nearly lost 2 stone in a fortnight !

I need to lose 22lb to pass 5% of my bodyweight so i'm over that....i just hope that the scales at L&D aren't out by 2 stone !

Just thought i'd let you know

Wow Well done you xx you have done fantastic on that Good luck for the next lot x

9 weeks? NINE weeks ????

Scuse interruption on Andy's thread but I was just flabberghasted ..... was this the original intention or did your op get put back and you ended up on the pre-op diet longer than originally planned?
Hi, This was a new programme put in by UCHL so it was intentional for people with a very high BMI to de-risk the op as much as possible. I then did the soup and yoghurt diet for 3 weeks. All in all I lost almost 4 stone doing this and felt so much better for it.
Cheers,

Thanks for the info.

I think the Whittington want me to do at least 5 weeks on pre-op diet (at least that is the way it looks at the moment based on appointment dates) .... altho if they put my "tentative" op date back any further than 10 April it will end up being longer.

My BMI was 51 at referral but is now around 47 - 48 but might end up being 45 by the time I have finished with VLCD / milk / soups etc!

Hi,

I have to say I found the milk diet easier to socialise with than the soup and yoghurt diet. So many places serve coffee lattes, etc. with semi-skimmed milk and it is easy to have at friends, etc. I wish you good luck.
Cheers,

chit!!!!well done andy...the only way i would lose that weight on the milk diet is being sick!!

**shudders at the thought of drinking milk**

I honestly hope with all my heart i dont have to do the milk diet!!

your a braver man that i would be.....well done!

I never once had 'just milk' I always had it with either NAS crusha, as a milky coffee, or on more adventurous days I did my best to turn it into a soup.

The Milk diet is not the pre op diet before the Operation,But a diet that you need to fulfill for people that have their op done at Luton and Dunstable ( L&D) to prove their commitment.
It's a diet of semi skimmed milk,1 sugar free jelly & an oxo stock cube....Plus a minimum of 2 litres of water a day and a Multi-vitamin tablet.

You have to lose 5% of your bodyweight on the diet...I needed to lose 22lb so i did that with another 6 lb on top of that :party0049:

I have chosen Mr Jain as my Surgeon after doing a bit of research and chatting to some people who have had their surgery performed by him. I'll be meeting him on the 8th March for a chat about my surgery and to get a definite date for surgery.

So all in all i'm so very happy that things are moving along nicely....especially after the battle i had to get here!

Hope everyone is okay

Take Care

Andy xx
