Just wanted to let everyone know im not having a bypass anymore.

the surgeon has suggested the sleeve he says the weight loss is the same as the bypass over 2 years and far less risky, and it can be converted to a bypass at a later date if required but he says most dont need it.

So I am waiting for my letter from him with a date but he says it will probably be august!

But I must say I feel alot happier now I have spoke to him and learned about the sleeve! sounds good :)

Great News Kelly,

I had a sleeve 2 months ago and i am happy with the way things are going, good luck and i hope your appointment will be thru soon.

xx

Yes he said 45 mins to 1.15 hrs he said the hardest part is getting us in to the correct position ! God only knows what they do to us. but I must say it sounded quite good

Well I can only assume that getting me into the right position caused them to have all the weight on my left butt cheek! It's still hurting a little now 12 days after surgery!!

Butt :D it's all been really really easy for me.

I have had the sleeve. But after only 9 days after the op I stopped taking any pain killers. I have drove a couple of times already, I'm getting about. Not as good as normal just yet, but getting there.

One scrambled egg for breakfast is too much! I'm eating pretty nice things still on the sloppy stage but my parents have been fantastic. I am still at their house, but I could go home if they, well my dad, would let me! He's really really mothering!

I had my sleeve done back in March. Best thing I ever did for myself. I've lost 3 stone and yesterday at dancing people were coming up to me and telling me how good I look. One even said I have a neat little bum now. Never thought I'd hear that. My bum used to block out the sun! That is some great feeling I can tell you and also it's much easier to do enjoyable exercise (like tap and jazz dance) without all that fat .
I LOVE my sleeve. And my surgeon.

ETA-- a sleeve normally takes an hour? I was in theatre for 4 hours. But I do have complications with my liver so it was a riskier op for me. I have no idea what they do to get the instruments where they need to be. I don't think I wanna know.

Hello, this is a really interesting discussion as up to now had never heard of the sleeve. I am just in process of being referred by GP to a specialist so any info is really great.
Thanks
