CHANGE OF HEIGHT ANYONE???!!!

Ok this has been a bit strange but here goes, In my younger days I was measured by the doctor and had a recorded height of 5'10". Prior to my bypass I was measured again and my height was just a fraction under 5'9" I put this down to an inacurate measurement when I was younger, but when I went back for my review I have grown an inch and Im back up to 5'10"!!!! both the last two measurement were with the same nurse and same measuring stick.
Has anyone else come across this?? the nurse put the inch gain back to my posture improving with the weight loss, I just dont want to be growning anymore :giggle: Also this throws out my goal weight and bmi.

Yep this happened to me Caroline! At my initial consultation I was told I was 5ft 7 when I have always thought I was 5ft 6. By the time I went for my pre-op assessment they said I was 5 ft 6 but by my 2 week post op check they reckoned I was 5ft 7 again. As you say it is really confusing and it does play havoc with BMI charts, tickers etc.
For me, I have decided to stick with what I have always said which is that I am 5ft 6 and I work my ticker out on that - it gives me consistency and if my medical records vary - then its no big deal - i know in my heart exactly what I have acheived!!

Since January i have gone 4 cm taller so thats about 1.5 inch. i am nearly 5ft 5"
wow. nearly a year ago i was 5ft 3.3" and now nearly 5ft 5"

Cally I imagined you as being much smaller, its strange how we get an image in our heads that is so wrong...lol...xx

God, I wish I was still growing ( upwards and not sideways lol ) I`m only 5ft could do with being a bit taller!!!:jelous:

ohhhh i would love to grow!!! I am 5 ft 1 and a half inches (yes the half IS important!!):8855: , maybee i will grow too when i loose some weight!!!! That would totally rock!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D

hi uglyduck16 i know what you mean im 6ft 2 and a half inch's tall and ive always been told that half an inch can make all the diffrence :8855:

You can also be taller in the morning than at night. It all depends on how much yr spine compresses during the day.

Wow, what a weird thing. I have a very strong curve in my cervical spine (where neck joins head) so I have a hump of sorts. It always gets more pronounced when I am heavier. Could there be hope for it to shrink along with me:eek:, weeee!! I wanna be taller!!!:D

Back probs

I have mentioned this in another thread,I have always been 5ft 5in,at heaviest lost 1in now Ive lost weight its back!Obviously fat belly pulls your spine down.Thing is my back cracks all the time now, gets on my nerves, must be ligaments trying to go back in place.:8855:

I'll be 10 foot then when I get rid of this belly:8855::8855:

Darn it I don't want to get any taller! I want to shrink!

I am 5 foot 2... when i did lighter life, i got smaller, and everyone commented on how short i looked, have to say since losingthe weight this time, i find trousers seem hell of alot longer.... have to wear higher shoes LOL... like the pair i have on today, god they are so high

Yup, I've gone from 5.4 in my teens to 5.3 now, and going by the number of people psting here, it is fairly common. We shrink as we get older! Eek!
