Having a sleeve!!

My best friend thinks it will make me miserable as I love going out for dinner etc and cooking

It's just something you have to get used to. You will be able to go out again once you're eating proper food again, but it will be a smaller portion and healthier choices and water or juice instead of fizzy pop or alcohol for a while...

It's more important for you to not be miserable, if eating out & drinking is more of a priority than surgery it maybe worth waiting a little while until your head & heart are in the right place together.

I was a v.regular drinker, socially & for work...you can work round it & I've been out more in past 4weeks than ever & not drinking hasn't bothered me in slightest :) xx

It's the bit drinking but I guess I'll get used to it, I don't go out a lot, we have a drink at home! Which will be a hard habit to break !! Just trying to be completely honest

Going out for dinner is a big part of my life, but in thinking that in future I'll
Be able to go out and just have a starter as a treat? Something I like ?
I love cheese !!! I don't have a sweet tooth

Weightlossdreamer

When you say you still go out for dinner and drink etc can you talk me through it please
My dietician wasn't very helpful at all

i choose from the childrens menu. im a regular at harvester. my meal at the moment is the grilled salmon with jacket potato. they take the skin off the potato and the salmon for me and i mash it up with gravy. i can manage about half. im on the soft, mushy, crispy stage

I make good choices like small portions such as starters or low fat options. For example yesterday I had a charcuterie board. Didn't eat the bread had some of the pickles, the ham hock terrine and a couple of pieces of cured meat. I always pick something which is mainly protein based like chicken strips or a meat salad. When I fancy carbs I'll have a jacket spud. I eat slowly and only till I'm full. I have no problem leaving good or asking to take it away if I'm in an Indian or something. I drink pretty often but I'm a bander I'm not sure if it's different for sleeve peeps. You can still lead a 'normal' life it's just a different sort of 'normal'

I went on a hen do last week. The girls I went with are all very petite and I noticed that how I eat now isn't much different. I eat like a thin person now. X x

You will find that you may not tolerate alcohol as well and be happy with one glass only occasionally, I'd you find that unacceptable then please think long and hard.

Badgerpink What sort if good do you eat now compared to pre surgery ?
I ate relatively healthy last year pre-surgery just big amounts, with exercise I was always hungry so it took alot to fill me so things like pasta and bread a healthy amount would'nt cut it I also drank fizzy diet drinks which I cut out around May last year they had a big impact on my hunger. Now I just eat what my family has just a smaller size, I have the odd treat but I make sure I never go over 1300 cals on a treat day. I track everything on most days I have around 800/1000. And I'm satisfied and I don't feel hungry x

This time 4 weeks ago, I was laid in my hospital bed trying to get a quick nap in when my nurses came in to get me to escort me down to theatre. By 9:30 I was stood waiting in the anaesthetist room in full blown panic attack mode. waiting to begin a journey that would change my life for the better! 4 weeks on and I feel great! My wounds have healed and the weight loss has begun. No regrets. I'm so glad I was given the opportunity to have weight loss surgery.

Same!!
I eat the right stuff but loads of it!! Hence I'm obese! I exercise and then I can't fill myself up so I eat too much bread for example, I'm hoping my principles of healthy eating will get me to where I want to be as I will eat the right stuff but much less of it! And I need to stop my addiction to cheese !!!! It is worse than eating chocolate
