Hi everyone, my names Claire and this is the first time using this forum. You'll realise im not that clever with the PC :eek:. The last time I was weighed was Jan and I was 21st 5lb and my BMI over 50. Im 5ft 2.

I was refered last Nov 09 by my GP for surgery and my journey began in Jan10.

I am seeing my consultant next weds 22nd and the dietician on Friday 24th. Ill put my exact weight, BMI when im weighed next week.

Im going to have a nose around now and see if I can get the hang of this. Have a good day everyone. Luv Claire x

Whoops forgot to say I live in Surrey and my surgery will be at St Georges Hospital.

Welcome claire, this site is truly fantastic as everyone is so caring and on the same wave length on this journey, I look forward to following your journey and I hope you get adate soon.
I am 5 months in and had my first appointment in August. Just finding the waiting for next appointment and lack of communication so frustrating.

I encourage you to find your way around this site and log in daily because you will find it invaluable in preparing you for your surgery,

Hi Claire - welcome to the forum ! Whereabouts in Surrey do you live ? Do you know when you'll be having your surgery yet ?

Hi Rosa, Hope you are well? Just wondered if anyone you spoke with on here had approached their GP to swap hospitals due to the waiting times. I have asked my GP to explore Telford ( I know you wont know this hospital) as Walsall Manor is in such a mess with WLS. I am now fretting as to whether I should have asked, although nI haven't heard anything as yet. I am all over the place since I decided to ask for surgery. I was referred in May and have only had one appointment and cant get an answer as to when my next one will be. One operater told me prob would be around Feb before they even contact me!! I am choosing to ignore that though lol!!!

I used to love shopping in Bentalls in Kingston when I was younger - I grew up in Ashford.
Have you got a date yet ?

welcome to the site. I am reasonably new too and have found the support and information I get from the lovely people here to be so helpfull. I had never been on a forum before I joined this one but I think weight loss surgery is a really specialist area and its so good to be able to talk to people in the same situation. There are so many inspiring stories as well which I love and the diaries are great to read too. You will probably find that you can relate to so many of the stories. For the first time in my entire life I dont feel like the odd one out.

i enquired about changeing hospitals some time ago but not for WLS so my IH, speak to your gp about it as i did and she said that it takes time... like 3 months to get everything swapped over so as i needed regular lumber punctures it wasnt advisable so i stayed where i was, in my opinion it would just be adding extra time onto you wait for WLS so i wouldnt do it - but then again thats just how its is over here at my hospital your hospital is proably totally different. have a word with your gp they should be able to advise you on the best route forward!
