sorry all but i need a whinge ,been on list at st richards since mr somers agreed to gbs on feb 12th ,been okayed by shrink. just rang them an they said they not even dealing with admissions at mo to many other things to deal with.not moaning about them ,i do understand really just so down sitting here crying onto laptop.oh god just dont think i can wait any more been since last august they got my referall with funding approved . moan over sorry all:cry:

I dont know your hospital but if I were you, I would send an email to your Mr Somers explaining what you have been told and asking him what the actual situation is - sometimes different departments have different ideas on what is going on - you just need to get on his surgery list now.

good luck Debs - you are the on way!

i was on a waiting list and rang up to see how far up the list i was, i spoke to a really rude women who said 'theres no point ringing now it'll be at least 10 months' i cried my eyes out after the phone call as i was expecting it to be in the next 5 mths and to be told that in such a rude manner made me feel even worse! i thought sod her and rang again 1 month later, ended up talking to a lovely lady who said my op would probably be in 4 months i felt so much better and was so glad i rang again. to my delight the lady rang me back 2 months later and gave me a date!!
so please dont be sad just ring them again in afew weeks and you may get a totally different answer.

I think you should wait a bit and either call again or do as Caroline suggested and contact the consultant direct. Also maybe mention the horrid woman who has no tact or diplomacy and let him know how his patients are being treated....

Hi Debbie:grouphugg:
These a hug for you hun . I`d say phone as well and ask if the is a cancellation can you have it tell them that all this waiting is getting you down . Are you getting it done on the NHS because if you were going private I bet you would of had it done by now . Keep us posted hun .
Good luck and take care .

Get yr kicking boots on Debs. The squeaky door gets the oil, so phone the secratary to the Surgeon every couple of weeks or once a month. Be really polite and as others have suggested ask if there have been any cancellations. If you are upset and sad - tell the secratary - afterall s/he will be a person and will understand human emotions. It's just so important to be remembered in this kind of situation I think. I really hope that you hear something positive soon.

dear margaret thanks for the hug you made me cry [not in a bad way].yes i am nhs first saw my gp 13 months ago. i worry about calling to much dont want to annoy them so i go to the bottom of the list .once again thanks:cry:

Debs I really feel for you ((hugs)). When I saw the Dr at the obeisity clinic (the one that applied for the funding), he told me that once you had seen the surgeon you had to have had the op within 18 weeks under government guidelines. Hope you get it sorted soon. Take care.

I don't suppose anyone will mind so long as you are polite and honest about your plight. You won't annoy anyone Debs -particularly if you express yourself as you do here. 13 months is a long time to wait, you are bound to be tearful. Thinking of you.

Sorry hope I didn't upset you more. It was just what I was told maybe he was just trying to make it seem like it wouldn't be a long way off. How wrong he was, waiting for the funding alone is bad enough. Take care.

hi sharon you didnt upset me so dont worry .its just the wait an struggling to work an get through a day in this heat:)

I know exactly what you mean I am absolutely exhausted just being up and walking around doing normal stuff takes so much out of me at the moment.

Debs try and keep your chin up I know it is hard I am at the pre op end too got second appt. for mid August four months after first, so it is a case of just trying to see it through.
I know it is hard but just try and go about your every day stuff and try not to think of it. I always think things come round quicker when you do that.
My thoughts are with you, we are all routing for you. it will all work out love
