Katrine's GB Journey

Happy it is all going well.

Hoorah - The scales moved for me today. I can finally say I have lost 1.25lbs in 9 days. x

Well done Katrine and much love, you are doing so well xxx

Had a lovely weekend with friends staying but did drink rather alot of wine on both Friday and Saturday night. Enjoyed the food I ate - didn't have puds on anything else like crisps etc. Seeing dietitian tomorrow and she will look at my food diary - will she comment on my alcohol!!!!. I know I have to limit it as its empty calories but I still want to enjoy my weekends when we are socialising. Any thoughts or comments?

did she comment??? I gave up booze for 10 months then had one night out before band 2 and been off it again now since but if you enjoy it then why not and so long as you dont drink every day limit yourself to friends visits and u will be fine xx

that was a bit of luck but like I said if your not doing it every day you should be fine. I am still waiting for dietican so I can check all ok but other than that still on the right road so far xx

Well tomorrow I am having my first band fill under Xray. Looking forward to having the restriction and I have managed not to put on weight despite eating quite alot of healthy foods and having a few glasses of wine to celebrate my birthday at the weekend.
I know you have to make sure you can drink a glass of water before you leave to make sure the restriction is not too tight. Any other advice???

First band fill under Xray for me today @ 2pm. Travelling to London for it. Excited and apprehensive too x

Had first band fill on Wednesday and it went really well.
3 mls added to my 10ml band. Today I start on soft diet after three days of fluids. Cannot wait until normal on Tuesday to see how much restriction I have got x

just been reading your diary - sounds like your doing realli well - wishing you plenty more weight loss now youve had your first fill

xxxx

On Tuesday I start back on normal foods after my band fill and want to get the balance right between foods eaten which maximise the effectiveness of the band. I know I read menus of banders who had steadily lost over six months or more but cannot find the thread. One bander was called Cazbandy I think? Any help would be appreciated.

All the very best for Tuesday, I will be thinking of you.... take care xxx

Well Tomorrow is an important day in our household. I go back to work after having the summer off when I had my band fitted and our son starts in Sixth form. He has to wear a suit so dying to get a photo of him. I also start back on normal food so need to get my act together today and sort out a suitable packed lunch. Usually always just buy a sandwich - not now though. Also I need to get up alot earlier so I can have a cup of tea wait 15mins and then have a very slow small breakfast. What a challenge for me! I know it is a special day for Emma too - first band fill and I wish her lots of luck with it x

Band fill last Wednesday, now on normal foods but was feeling hungry mid morning and mid afternoon - felt band was not restricting me.
Phoned the dietitian to day. She took a dietary history and immediately identified the problem. My breakfast cereal Weetabix was too slippery - change to more texture like Special K, Shreddies or similar. Feel fuller for longer. then lunch I was having a large salad with chicken and ham, tomato dressing and some seeds thrown in. her response you need some textured carbs - ryvita, coucous, pasta. need to aim for half the plate veggies quarter protein and another quarter of carbs at each of my 3 meals. Snack on fruit not diet yoghurts. This has helped me understand a bit more about working with the band. Tomorrow is another day !!!!
