Post surgery hopes and dreams

Just a little throwaway question. What is your ambition, your secret dream for post-surgery?

I know that we are all hoping for better health and a more comfortable day-to-day life and even better clothes . Lots of people here are hoping to have a baby. But what is your secret ambition? The dream that you couldn't tell anyone about when you are large because you think that you would be laughed at? It could be anything from wearing a slinky wedding dress to climbing Kilimanjaro - so, what is yours???

Mine is to run. I've never been able to run (even as a child) and I have dreams of being able to do a 10k.

(I also want to be able to rub my mother's face into it after 40+ years of nagging and misery - but that makes me a bad person )

Over to you.

love

Horse riding with my daughter. Im sure the horses at my cousins stable cringe when I go up there.

Hi Tilly, I dont really have any dreams as such I just cant wait to get back into size 10 clothes its been a few years from that has happened, I had my 1st child 7 years ago so it was just before I got pregnant with him that I was skinny :sigh: I also want people to be able to take photos of me and I wont be worrying about how fat I look in them :)

To do a triathlon with my sister.

(Plus I really want to rub my mom's face in it too)

Oh blimey where to start!!!

I want to get married next October in a Cream Maggie Sotero wedding dress (hmm money permitting) We got together in the month of October ( bout 15 years ago!!) and I love the Autumn so yeah that would be fab. There's a medievil Barn near where we live that holds receptions, so all rustic decor , hog roast the lot.
Also I would like to take up guitar again and maybe play in front of someone (before I get too old to wear leather jeans again lol)
One of the main ones is run about with the kids and take them on loads of fun days out. We took them to legoland a few years ago and I couldn't go on any rides and was in agony all day every day walking around and I feel sad I let them down.
I would like to finally learn to drive and learn to swim.
Buy clothes in the high street, not online from specialist stores.
Not hide from people because I'm ashamed of my weight or scared I will be humiliated in public.
The ultimate would be to live as long as I can to make sure my lads grow up well and learn to manage their Autism in adult life, get jobs , families of their own and live happily.

I'd like to get back into the size 10 and 12 that are hanging in the wardrobe.

I'd also like to go to New York. The last time I was there about 5-6 years ago. I was an American size 4 . I'd buy brand name tracksuites in a American kids size medium or large.

I'd also like to go back to college and study Cake Decorating properly, so it becomes more than just a hobby.

mine's a little different, but I'm going to apply to Teesside Uni to do the diploma in adult nursing (hopefully to start Sept 2010) and ultimately to go on to train as a Midwife.

I always wanted to be a Midwife, but when I left school was too young to go straight into nurse training and my parents couldn't afford to keep me in education till I was 17.5yrs old (had to help support the younger siblings) so I got a job in the Civil Service which is where I stayed for 26 years :sigh: (it's only recently that finances have allowed a change in career too)

I thought I would be too old to train as a nurse now(I'm 44) and had resigned myself to the fact that it would never be, but my OH's cousin (who is a nursing manager) has said I should go for it.

By Sept 2010, I should be a shadow of my current self and fit enough to pass any medical that may be required.

it would be a dream come true if I get on that course....wish me luck :)

To be able to shop in places like River Island, Top Shop again, and buy something I love, rather than something that has my size.

:)

Wow Yvonne, thats exactly what I wanted to do too. Nearly had the chance a few years ago when I applied for voluntary redundancy but got turned down.

Just wouldnt be able to afford it now, gues I will just stick to being a yes youve guessed a civil servant :(

Hi Maz, I got compulsory early severence 18 months ago and was overjoyed to 'get out' :D but it's also difficult adjusting to life after the Civil Service.

the job I do now keeps things ticking over, but it's not what I want to do till retirement and I'd get more with a bursary and training to do something I've always wanted than what I earn now...no contest

I daren't build my hopes up yet, though excited at what could be :D

Mine - I have a few:
To go to uni to do social work with a view to aiming for forensic social worker.
To get on a plane without EVER asking for a seat belt extension that is handed very discreetly but is always bright bloody orange.
To put on my weding dress (well this is my daughters dream really)
To cycle ride with my kids
To be around alot longer for my disabled son and offer him the support he will need in adult life.

Well my ambition is to feel normal and not worry about my tops covering my stomach all the time. Also shopping at "normal" shops and not in the plus size section.

this is a good thread...

my first thing is to get on a plane and 'pull' the seatbelt tight.

when i fist got together with my boyfriend and he suggested we went white water rafting but i was too heavy, i dunno if i'l ever do that anyway, but i'd like for my weight to never be a factor in a choice i have to make again....

Im sure you will get in. My sister in law is the associate head of nursing here in Coventry she keeps saying I should do it. Damn civil service not letting me go!
