Hi Vain. Thanks for posting this thread - I have been looking for a September surgery thread as I'm going in for a gastric bypass tomorrow (with Mr Rao at the North Staffs Hospital). The hospital have prepared me well I think but it's not the same as hearing from someone who's been through it. I've just been stalking you on the August surgery thread and you're doing amazing!

This all feels a bit strange, I usually like to be in control of everything and hate the unknown. From reading people's experience on here it seems some (like you!) do really well but others have a really hard time. I just can't imagine how I'm going to feel afterwards. The liver shrinking diet has been pure hell and I feel like eating my own arm, but I've stuck to it and have lost 14lbs over the last 2 weeks. I just hope it gets easier post-bypass. This really is a last resort for me. I've been on every diet under the sun and have even lost loads of weight in the past - but I always end up piling it all back on and more besides. I'm too old now (52!) to carry on like this as it's wrecking my health. I'll come back here when I'm home after surgery to keep up with everyone, hope it's not too long before I'm fit and well and back at work and on the road to a new improved me. potter xx
