PinkDaisy

I will do it this time!
OK guys, i havnt had a monthly cycle for well over a year, was told at one point 6years ago i had PCOS but had a scan last year which was clear and they said I have no cysts.

Had my gastric band fitted on saturday, when the weight starts coming off will my periods come back??? Has anyone had this experience?

Hi - Sorry I haven't had your experience but I did have very irregular periods. They are still a bit hit and miss but getting better.

I am sure they will sort them selves out soon.

Good Luck

Hi PD
I had'nt had a TOTM since February and then had my op in August and ended up having one in hospital( apparently common for women who have abdominal surgery) so sitting here now wondering if they will be back but mine is down to age ha ha. Sorry i can't help but i'm sure someone will be along soon to help x

Im 22 so we are thinking about baby when weight is off!! I know im mad losing it to put it back on but ive got 3yrs aftercare so ideally want to have a baby within that time so i can have my band adjusted accordingly through pregnancy xx

i haven't had surgery but i know when i lose abit of weight i get some sort show almost, very little though. i haven't seen my totm now for about 5-6 years. i'm hoping it will all go back to normal as i too would like to start a family. good luck Pinkdaisy xx

Sorry if I'm not going to be much help...but just wanted to say that even menopausal women start having periods again when on very low calorie diets.....and when you do these diets they warn you that you become fertile so take extra precautions....(as told by a Lighterlife counsellor).

I believe that when seeking fertility treatment, they advice you to lose to weight, not just because it's healthier for you but because it's possible your fertility will return on it's own.

(((hugs)))

Hi there

Not sure if ur aware u can actually have the follicles (pos) without having the cysts (pcos) ppl do get confused .......so u may not have the cysts but may have the follicles which do interfere with ur totm

HTH - Me Julie xx

Don't know if this is any help but i have Pcos and had my last period brought on in march this year by taking progesterone as i usually only have totm twice a year. But saying that, had by bypass less than two weeks ago (21st of august) and i amazingly came on yesterday! Hoping mine sort themselves out too as we also want to start a family after 9 years of trying with no luck so far.

Hiya hun - Im a bypasser, but I never really had periods at all. I was diagnosed with PCOS but again I had no cysts but Im 24 and in my whole life have had about 6 periods. I have lost 5stones and last month and this month I have had a period which is a bloody revelation! Haha - I feel like a 12 year old girl again!
Either way, yes you will probably begin your periods when you lose weight so good luck!
Xxxxx

Thanks so much guys!! I have hope xx

I haven't had my surgery yet but i have PCOS and also seeing a fertility specialist for more than a year now. Done all the tests and everything came back normal for both of us. the only problem is the weight. Doctor asked me to lose weight and also agreed about the surgery. He also said its better and less risky to get pregnant in a healthy weight than being obese and get pregnant. After the surgery its 18months that you have to wait and then you can ttc. I have read that many women had surgery and had their monthly regularly.

hi pink i also have pcos and had not had a period for nearly 2 years im now about 5 weeks post band and my periods made an appearance while i was at the clinic seeing wendy last thursday the ? now is when are they gonna stop !!! but seriously losing weight always improves pcos so good luck xxheather

yup, weight loss will no doubt start your totm again regardless of pcos or not. i have pcos (loads of cysts) and have 2x totm per year. i know they will come back though when i loose more weight.
