Back in hospital part 3

Well, since my surgery almost 8 weeks ago I have been admitted to hospital 3 times. Each time no one has been able to fine out what is wrong and I have almost died.

I am sat in hospital as we speak, I was admitted at my 6 week check (7 really) as the consultant felt I had Beriberi disease which is extremely rare. He has only seen it once in his long career. Well, I have been given Thiamine intravenously and orally and there is no change in my health or my B1 levels.

I am at my absolute wits end. They tell me that my B1 levels were low before surgery (that blood test was done in June) which is very strange apparently. B1 deficiency just "doesn't happen to people with a balanced diet" which I did have/do have. The Dietician is happy with my current diet. All other vitamins are fine. Blood sugar fine.

My temperature keeps spiking- no explanation other than that they may have missed a tiny leak. I am in no pain though, not even when eating. My inflammation markers are slightly raised they sat.

I have been away from my children for a total of 19 days since my surgery. I have never been away from them for longer than 2 days. This morning I burst into tears when they told me I still couldn't leave because they still didn't know what the issue was.

Oh no. I hope they find out what's wrong soon. So sorry it's not going well and can imagine you're missing your kids so much. I was only in 8 days and missed my hubby badly xx

That's really crap, I'm sorry to hear it's still not sorted.

I think at this point I'd be starting to kick some ass. You need to see a specialist, your life is at stake here.

It's obvious that no-one there has a clue, so they need to find someone who does before this turns into a negligence case.

Fingers crossed you make a full recovery very soon.
